Slime Rancher Description
Slime Rancher sandbox game from independent team of Monomi Park, available for PC, PS4 and XONE.
Plot
Slime Rancher follows the story of Beatrix Labeau – a brave, young farmer girl, who travels to Far, Far Range, located thousand light years from Earth, looking for better life. The heroine decides to earn fortune by breeding titular slimes – adorable, colorful beings resembling jelly beans. This isn’t an easy task, though, and Beatrix has to deal with various threats, most notably species of jelly creatures.
Game mechanics
Slime Rancher for PC, PS4 and XONE uses first-person perspective. Our primary tool as multifunctional device called Vacpack, which can act as both a vacuum and a gun. It can suck in smaller objects and creatures and then shoot them like bullets.
While every day brings new challenges, the gameplay sticks to the same scheme. The girl wakes up in the morning and feed her creatures with a proper food. Some of them are vegans and eat vegetables, while others are carnivores and must be fed with nutrient chickens. Then she sets off to explore the open world, looking for fruits and vegetables to farm and slimes to tame. One must remember that some of them can be aggressive towards player, or even explode after direct contact. As the sun sets, players must return to farm, feed again owned creatures and prepare a ranch for another day.
Technical aspects
Slime Rancher has been designed mainly for younger audience, which resulted in titular slimes being cute, adorable creatures, and detailed surroundings delight with a riot of colors. Visuals are complemented by a pleasant soundtrack, with catchy music and squeaky sounds made by slimes.
