What is Spintires: Chernobyl?

This is a DLC for a car game focused on realistic depiction of driving off-road trucks and lorries. The core game offered mostly environments in Russia. Chernobyl, as the name suggests, takes us to Ukraine, the territory polluted by the infamous nuclear reactor accident, which occurred in 1986.

What new does Chernobyl bring to Spintires?

The main attraction is the city of Pripyat, as well as other realistic locations, such as the Red Forest or the lake Chernobyl. Then, we get two new vehicles – B-157 B-505 – that will help transport firewood through polluted regions. One of the novelties in the mechanics will be the Geiger counter, which will enable us to plot routes so as to minimize exposure to deadly radiation.

OUR EXPECTATIONS

I hardly touched any utility vehicle simulators, but the prospect of encrustation in the mud and a constant struggle to regain traction bought me off the spot. Every session with Spintires / MudRunner is a very relaxing experience for me. The idea for the Chernobyl-themed DLC is, I think, really interesting and has the potential to improve the game, primarily from the angle of route planning and the need to respond more effectively to emerging problems. The DLC should also at least partially fulfill the dreams of players who were forced to go through the same areas on foot in S. T. A. L. K. E. R. games.

Jack "Stranger” Halas

Every "real man" dreams from time to time – unless he's just done the nails – to be smeared in mud up to the waist and neck. And what could be better than burrowing in the mud in a territory guarded by Kalash-armed stalkers and raging physical anomalies that could tear apart the body of an inattentive driver... okay, maybe we won't run into any S. T. A. L. K. E. R. excesses, but we can still get into a high-radiation zone that the Geiger counter warn of. A must-have item for the toughest guys who have already achieved everything in the core game and now ride through the mud with their eyes closed!
