What is Predator: Hunting Grounds?
Created by the authors of Friday the 13th: The Game, studio IllFonic, this is an asynchronous web game based on the cult film franchise starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (also his voice). In the game, one player becomes the eponymous space hunter, standing alone against a group of marines, controlled by the remaining players.
What is gameplay like in Predator: Hunting Grounds?
The title will only offer multiplayer. The choice of weapons of the marines will offer the garden-variety rifles and shotguns. The Predator, on the other hand, will use the entire arsenal known from the films, including optical camouflage, shoulder cannon, and the spear. Despite technological edge, it doesn't stand a chance in open combat when outnumbered, hence it will need to also wisely use different strategies, and take advantage of the environment.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
Although I never really enjoyed asymmetric multiplayer games so far – Dead By Daylight didn't convince me at all, and Friday the 13th: the Game was buried by customers before I even made up my mind whether to buy it or not – I am actually looking forward to play Predator: Hunting Grounds. It's a game, where the mechanics and gameplay decisions go hand-in-hand with the story, which becomes ever rarer in games. And this, after all, seems the perfect franchise for an asymmetric multiplayer games. Predator got a few good games, and one outstanding, but I still hope that Hunting Grounds will be for fans of the Predator what Alien: Isolation was for fans of the Xenomorph.
