Fallout 76 was released a long time ago!
An online spin-off of the cult series of the post-apocalyptic role-playing games debuted in November 2018, but has so far only been available on Bethesda.net. This title will now also appear on Steam. Concurrent to the premiere on Valve's platform, Fallout 76 will receive a large (and free) update titled Wastelanders that will introduce the long-awaited NPCs, and a new story campaign, among others.
What is Fallout 76?
It's a network-oriented spin-off of the cult Fallout series. This will be a full-blown survival simulator, allowing you to build a base, develop the hero, or explore vast wastelands of West Virginia – this time inhabited by other players. Upon the release, the game met with ice-cold reception, as it brought shallow mechanics and a slew of technical glitches. In the following months, Bethesda continued to develop the game, but the attempts to mend the game often turned out to be counterproductive, bringing new bugs and controversies.
What can we expect from Wastelanders?
The update will introduce to Fallout 76's world what many players have been missing most – numerous independent characters who we will be able to talk to using an advanced dialogue system. The game will be expanded with a new story campaign, two competing factions, opponents, items and locations.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
Fallout 76 will finally be released via the only right store. This will allow the entire Steam community to taste the post-apocalyptic world, bare witness the shortage of content, play survival, and realize what a game with too few NPCs looks like. Fortunately, the Wastelanders update will also be available on Steam, and it hopefully turns Fallout 76 upside-down.
People will return to the Appalachians, two factions will be added, there will be a reputation system, and many other attractions. I doubt, however, that all of these novelties will cover up the bad taste I can still feel after playing Fallout 76, but I admit that I am curious. I wonder what Bethesda has cooked up this time, what will be broken, what new glitches will appear, and whether it will all turn out to be digestible after all. Boy, I can't wait, cause it can't get any worse. And then... IT MIGHT BE ACTUALLY BETTER!

It's hard to disagree. Maybe Bethesda's launcher didn't cause a massive shitstorm for the company, but it certainly added insult to injury. At this point, criticizing the game is just beating the dead horse. So, Bethesda failed on almost every front – even the launcher was done poorly, as the game itself could not be... uninstalled (some conspirators say this was a deliberate move – so let's be happy F76 did not uninstall all other games from our computers). Will it be better on Steam? Well, at least the launcher will be better – I'm also curious about the new elements that will be introduced with subsequent updates. So, again, will it be better? We'll find out soon enough.
