What is Minecraft: Dungeons?
A spin-off of Minecraft, one of the world's most popular games. In contrast to the focus on building, exploration, and optional survival mode of the original, Dungeons emphasizes combat. The game was developed by Mojang AB, founded by the creator of Minecraft.
What's gameplay like in Minecraft: Dungeons?
We get isometric perspective, like in a hack-and-slash game. We can personalize the looks of our protagonist, and travel with them the dangerous, randomly-generated locations, where, using an arcade combat system, we will have to get rid of dozens of enemies. We don't get experience points during the game, but we can get bigger and better weapons. The game allows up to four people to play together and, like the original Minecraft, sports a very distinctive visual setting based on voxels.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
I played the original Minecraft after the premiere a little – had some fin stacking cubes and the crushing them, and then I went back to my favorite games of 2011. Now, however, after nearly a decade of development of the game, I came back almost by accident, and... I love it – also, thoroughly impressed by how the game looks ten years later; the textures are new, the mechanics are, too, there's even more possibilities, and a ton of content from modders. It was only a matter of time before other works set in this universe appeared, but I don't think anyone expected a diabloid game. And yet! Minecraft: Dungeons is meant to be the hack-and-slash for kids, also digestible for older players. I doubt, of course, that this production should achieve success and status on par with the original Minecraft, but it will certainly give the creators a decent injection of cash from fans of the original.
