The Last Show of Mr. Chardish. Most interesting Polish Games at gamescom

Table of Contents

Release date: 2020;

Platforms: PC

From the creators of: Weakless (Punk Notion).

The creators of The Last Show of Mr. Chardish (formerly the project was known as Ars Fabulae) don't deny that their greatest inspiration is the excellent What Remains of Edith Finch. Here, similarly, we get a nostalgic story, and shifting realities, each realized in a different style.

There’s exploration of the fable-like land as a bird, playing as a young swordsman, or solving environmental puzzles as a robot. In-between these sequences, the narration takes place in a theatre, where the story is recounted by an actress, who returns here after years, and these are more reminiscent of such narrative games as Firewatch and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Petrol Blood

Release date: TBA;

Platforms: TBA.

The production of Swimming Scorpions takes players behind the Iron Curtain in the 1980s, to an alternate reality, in which the Party is stronger than ever, and ordinary citizens live in fear of the brutality and terror of repressive authorities. The story is told from two perspectives – a young revolutionary who enjoys driving fast cars and destroying government property, and an experienced agent, who will not step back from anything to complete his mission.

The creators of Petrol Blood call their game a love letter to the absurd chase scenes of the Fast and Furious. The arcade driving model will allow us to perform unimaginable stunts, and in addition to numerous chases, the plot will also offer stealth missions and car boss battles. There will also be vehicle improvements, and the game's locations will include Wroclaw, Prague, East Berlin and Polish countryside.

Danger Scavenger

Release date: June 22, 2020 (PC), 2020 (PS4, XOne, Switch)

Platforms: PC, PS4, XONE, Switch

From the creators of: Driftland: the Magic Revival (Star Drifters).

The next cyberpunk game in the lineup is a rogielike. In Danger Scavenger, players step into a bleak world, where remorseless corporations not only rule the masses, but also create an AI that starts getting out of control. A small group of extremely dangerous and capable outcasts known as Scavengers has to challenge the dangers lurking among ordinary citizens.

The gameplay in Danger Scavenger focuses mainly on combat shown from isometric perspective. Before the game begins, we can choose a character with unique special abilities and thus requiring a different play style – from pure destruction to more stealthy approach. The creators promise as many as 30 different types of opponents, procedural generation of levels, as well as both single player and coop modes. Moreover, as befits a roguelike, we must also take good care of our character – death involves the loss of most of the acquired improvements.

The Last Oasis

Release date: 2022;

Platforms: PC

The production from Donkey Crew takes us to a post-apocalyptic world, where the Earth stopped spinning, and the planet is split into two uninhabitable zones – one chained in eternal ice, the other, a scorched desert. Between them there are small, constantly moving oases with scant resources. The inhabitants of the Mobile City, a refuge to many survivors, constantly follow these moving habitable zones in order to survive and gather vital resources needed to maintain the last bastions of humanity.

Last Oasis will be an online game designed for cooperation. Help will be required both during the struggle with the extreme environment and to deal with players contesting precious resources. The inhabitants of this world move between the inhabitable zones in improvised walking machines, and create temporary bases to attack and defend more flexibly. Some of the tribes, however, exchange goods with each other. The game will also feature a character progression system.
