XCOM: Chimera Squad

Speaking of XCOM, 2020 has also brought the next installment of the legendary series itself. It wasn't a full-fledged entry, but a spin-off entitled Chimera Squad. Although this production is much smaller in scale and noticeably easier than the previous game (XCOM 2, especially with the addition of War of the Chosen), it still offers a solid portion of quality fun.

The action of Chimera Squad takes place several years after the events from the earlier part of the cycle, i.e. after the victory over the sinister ADVENT. The game allows you to lead members of an elite task force operating in City 31. The main task is to investigate a terrorist organization that is trying to destabilize the metropolis – a symbol of coexistence of aliens and humans.

The creators have made some important changes in the gameplay mechanics, including completely redesigning the turns system – the participants of the clash now react alternately, not simultaneously, so that fans, on the one hand, will feel at home and shouldn't have the impression that they're playing the same game again on the other hand.

XCOM: The Chimera Squad is a worthy production unless you expect another monumental strategy like XCOM 2 from this game.
