Trek to Yomi. Best short games of 2022 - under 10 hours-long!

Fans of Akira Kurosawa's work, and samurai cinema in general, probably already know Trek to Yomi. The production of Leonardo Menchiari and the Polish studio Flying Wild Hog draws heavily on this type of works, which is obvious from the screenshots alone. This is an action adventure game in the form of a side-scroller platformer. Most of the time, the gameplay is shown from the side, but there are also other, more cinematic shots. The whole thing is strongly focused on melee and ranged combat (utilizing swords, shurikens and a bow).

A lot of attention went into recreating the atmosphere of the classics, not only of samurai cinema, but also of black-and-white action movies. The team of developers from Flying Wild Hog, on the other hand, devoted themselves to preparing the best combat system possible. There are a few things to complain about here – for example, the uneven game balance – but in the end, the whole game deserves appreciation. It looks impressive, and slicing up opponents is highly satisfying. It's definitely worth giving this game a chance.
