Sifu is a TPP action adventure game. The game focuses on martial arts and is closest to beat 'em up sub-genre. It was developed and published by Sloclap studio (authors of the interesting Absolver from 2017).
Plot
Sifu tells the story of a Kung-Fu adept whose family was murdered when he was still a young man. The protagonist has trained for years to take revenge on the perpetrators of the crime and now sets out to finally eliminate them.
Mechanics
In Sifu we observe the action from different perspectives (while moving around the locations, the camera is behind the protagonist's back, but its position changes when a fight takes place - then it shows us the events from different sides, and the shots are somewhat cinematic). The gameplay is about exploring the levels and fighting with encountered enemies.
The player fights both regular bandits (some of them are equipped with weapons, such as knives) and bosses. Dexterity and positioning play a key role here - we have to move in such a way as to avoid attacks and maximise damage inflicted on enemies using our surroundings. Sometimes we also take over items possessed by enemies for some time (we can inflict blows with them, as well as throw them). It's also worth noting that in Sifu the levels are partially destructible - you can destroy barriers or tables with your attacks, for example.
During the game the player's character gradually develops - we unlock new fighting skills (mainly powerful Pak-Mei Kung-Fu techniques).
Game modes
In Sifu we can only play solo. The core of the game is the story campaign.
Technical aspects
Sifu has an interesting, 3D graphic design, which in some respects may bring to mind the studio's previous game - Absolver (mainly character models). However, this time the developers used a slightly different, more cartoonish style. The spectacular animations also make a great impression.
