Supermassive Games became famous for the great Until Dawn, and unfortunately, they have not been able to deliver an equally successful game since. The subsequent installments of The Dark Pictures Anthology were particularly unconvincing, although there have been better productions in this series as well, such as Little Hope or The Devil in Me, which the author of our review liked. There is also this year's The Quarry, which is more... cinematic than the studio's previous works. There is little interaction here, even for this type of a game, although this doesn't have to be an obstacle for everyone. Especially since there's an option to just watch the game through. A bit absurd, but there it is.
The Quarry is worth checking out, because it's still quite a successful representative of a genre that doesn't seem to come back. It has everything a game like this needs: dumb, stereotypical characters who make even dumber decisions; plot twists that probably surprised the writers themselves; dramatic farewells to heroes and best of all: our direct participation. Fans of the genre also appreciated the presence of Ted Raimi, the brother of the director of the cult and great Evil Dead. He also appeared in many of his films. Next to him, we've also got David Arquette, known primarily from Scream, in subsequent parts of which he portrayed Dewey Riley. The story, as befits a slasher, isn't captivating, but it fulfills its function well.
