Mass Effect 2 is undoubtedly one of the greatest RPGs of all times – especially if you appreciate science fiction. The masters from BioWare delivered a monumental work in which almost everything worked as intended – from world creation and character writing, through the plot, to particular mechanics. This brilliant setting includes the iconic SR/SR-2 Normandy, our mobile base of operations, a cutting-edge starship where we spend the most of the adventure.
The Normandy SR-2 is one of the of the crowning achievements of the designers from the legendary studio. Fans of sci-fi are often absolutely crazy about Normandy, which themes t-shirts, hoodies, and many tattoos. It's a great design both in terms of the appearance and the atmosphere on board. There are quite a few rooms there, and each has a specific function, and offers something interesting. There's no wasted space here. That's why visiting Normandy is so fun and engaging. And all this with an unmistakable aesthetic.
We also feel at home in Normandy for another important reason – interesting and memorable characters. They encourage the player to visit every room and just chat with the folks there, thus better empathizing with the story. The special flavor of Normandy SR2 is also added by artificial intelligence that represents the ship. EDI, as it's called, is actually another NPC that we can meet and talk to, and she's a totally viable party member. However, the positive impression is spoiled by annoying loading screens that appear far too often.
