Baldur's Gate has set the standard for many years after its release. The production of BioWare is one of the most important games in the RPG genre. Almost every element of the game was reason of delight for fans. If there was anything to complain about, it was mostly a slightly opaque interface or problems of NPCs with finding the right paths. The sequel seemed even better, if only because of more interesting companions.
This advantage of the sequel is evident at the very beginning of the adventure, which starts in one of the most iconic locations in the whole series. The beginning of the game is quite powerful – we begin the adventure as a victim of experiments. Thanks to the some nearby commotion, our old friend Imoen was able to set us free. From then on, the discovery of what actually happened becomes our main concern. It was all accompanied by well-written dialogues and exciting plot twists.
Irenicus Dungeons from Baldur's Gate 2 are memorable for a rather heavy and disturbing atmosphere. Quite a lot is going on here as well. We discover that not only our character and companions are in dire straits, but dryads and golems as well – some of the latter are locked in cells and deprived of hearing and sight, so they do not react to our presence in any way. It only intensifies the ubiquitous sense of hopelessness and thus stays in your memory for long.
