Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. 13 Most-Wanted Upcoming RPGs
Table of Contents
- Planned release date: November 10, 2020
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X
Assassin's Creed an RPG? If you've missed the last two installments in the series, you may be surprised. The series underwent a major transformation in Origins, becoming more of an action-RPG than the (formerly) usual mix of action and stealth. Odyssey has taken another step towards RPG, and Valhalla is bound to repeat that.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla promises to be one of the biggest releases of the year. Although Cyberpunk 2077 will be released just 9 days later, Ubisoft's new production should do pretty well anyway. Aside from the fact that the game will debut along with Xbox Series X, its success will also be reinforced by setting the action in the Viking Age, which is one of the most sought-after settings by the fans of the series and beyond.
Players will become a Scandinavian warrior (interestingly: we'll be able to switch between female and male at any time) who leads a Viking clan on a journey across the North Sea in search of a new home. The king of England will, of course, take notice of our action, and we'll obviously enter a feud with him. We're also expecting the traditional, even more bitter and prolonged feud between the Assassins and Templars, as well as contemporary fragments of the story.
In terms of core gameplay, we're not likely to get any major changes. As with the previous entries in the series, we'll get an open world (this time spanning over Norway and England), offering a variety of side activities. There'll be a character development system, mainly based on improving your equipment and acquiring new skills (although without the classic skill tree). In addition, the decisions we make are intended to influence the fate of the characters and the plot.
WHO SHOULD PLAY IT?
Fans of open worlds and Vikings.
