Cycloid Emperor
You will come across the Emperor twice throughout the game - at the very beginning and at the end. The first one is just a warm-up, but it shows what you can expect. The emperor attacks with rockets and a energy "shock wave" which can knock Duke down to the ground. Additionally if you get too close to him, he might try stomping on you or grab and throw to the ground. In order to kill the Cycloid, you first need to weaken him enough for him to fall on his knees, approach him, interact and follow the commands displayed on screen. The method during the last fight stays the same, however you will need to repeat this action three times. Only rockets and explosive materials are effective against the Cycloid. [Chapter 5.1 and 5.23] |
Mothership
The Mothership is a large, flying fortress equipped with three laser cannons. One of them is pointed towards you and is the ship's only weak point. The fortress itself won't attack you, but Fighters and Dropships will keep flying out of it. If you won't destroy the ship in time, you will be directly attacked by the laser in front of you which won't end well. [Chapter 5.4] |
Battlelord
Just like the Cycloid, you will have to fight this enemy twice as well. The fight itself is similar as well: first you need to drop the giant to his knees and then finish him off by following the commands displayed on the screen. The Battlelord's main weapon is a giant minigun, capable of shooting grenades as well. Additionally the Battlelord might kick a car wreck or a barrel towards you. The first meeting in Las Vegas requires only one "weakening" and is also made easier thanks to the "pillar" around which you can run to avoid shots. The second meeting at the Hoover Dam will require you to weaken the Battlelord twice. Additionally you will be able to hide from his attacks only behind car wrecks, which he can kick at you. Only rockets and explosive materials are effective against the Battlelord. [Chapter 5.6] |
Alien Queen
You will meet the Queen by the stadium on which you fought the Emperor during the prologue. This three-breasted monster will attack you with energy shots, "melee" attacks and eggs, from which Pregnators hatch. By the end of the fight she will also call in Octabrains that will try to intercept your missiles and throw them back at you. At the beginning the Queen will be protecting with her limbs - in order to make her expose herself, you have to throw a pipe bomb at one of the springboards on the sides of the arena and detonate it once it's beside her. After some time the Queen will stop protecting - Octabrains will appear then. [Chapter 5.9] |
Octaking
You will meet this flying giant for the first time by the end of the first part of The Forkstop. In order to defeat him you will need the nearby machinegun post. His attacks aren't much different than the tactic used by Octabrains, but are of a bigger calibre. The second meeting will take place by the end of the second level of Generator Room. The fight itself will be longer and you will have a Devastator with infinite ammo at your disposal. After the first, supposed death, Octaking will regain his health and will try to draw you to him together with the whole platform you're on. One Devastator clip will do the job. [Chapter 5.18.1 and 5.19] |
Energy Leech
The Leech is the second to last boss. You will come across it during Blowin' the Dam. The Leech has three attacks. The first one is an energy ball similar to the ones that Octabrains shoot at you, but faster. The second is an attempt to crush you with its own body. The hardest attack is the "whirl" it creates to draw you into its jaws. The hardest part about this fight is the sole nature of the level. While underwater your movements are slow and you have to breath in air often. Luckily air bubbles can be found on the way to EDF crates which you will be visiting often to restock on RPG ammo.
