Trading with NPCs
There are two possible ways of trading in Black Desert: via Trader Manager or Auction House. Items that you find at Trade Managers, cannot be sold at the secondary market, and can only be used for 24h. Thus, such items will only be valuable for 24h and after that time, they become worthless.
In order to purchase a given item, you will have to connect all the required nodes (see Node Management for more information). The price of an item depends on the number of nodes and will reach between 90 and 130%. Thus, the best possible scenario will allow you to earn 40% of the former price. You can also sell special items and fish that you catch at the Trader Manager. However, you still need to have all the required nodes to get the best price available. If you don't purchase the nodes, the item will be worth 30% of its market price. For instance, you will only get 1800 silver for a gold coin worth 6000. Profit from special goods (coins, fish, etc.) reaches between 30 and 130%. Trader Managers sell their goods according to the rule of demand and supply. If a lot of people buy a given product and decide to sell it, the price will rapidly go down.
You can bargain, but remember that this option requires 5 points of energy. Bargain allows to sell items for higher prices than you expected. The process is a mini game that makes you hit the correct buttons and put the scale in a single horizontal line. If you succeed, items will be automatically sold for a higher price. One should pay attention to the fact that prices graduate according to the percent value of the price, which means that you earn up to several dozen more percent.
When dealing with Trader Managers, watch out for bandits. Carrying goods increases the risk of being robbed. Buying goods in one city and selling them in another one is a standard technique to make a lot of money but thieves can benefit at well (they are marked with a red thief icon). You can't just convince them to let you pass: they are much stronger than you. The best way to deal with them is to avoid paths that they use, so think twice before you begin another journey.
Important information concerning trade with NPCs:
- Trade focuses on demand and supply
- Trading purchased goods provides prices around 90 and 130%
- Trading goods acquired from hunting ground provides prices around 30 and 130%
- Trade depends on Nodes
- You can only trade special goods - purchased at Trade Managers or gathered from hunting ground.
- You can invest energy to increase the potential income
- Carrying goods makes you a potential target for thieves
Trading with other players
Trading with other players is another option. Just head to an Action House (there is one in every bigger city). The system is simple and intuitive. You can register an item at any moment and select its price from the available values. That means that the game establishes prices by itself, and you just choose between them. The sale concerns limited number of items that can be registered (30 items). You will have to wait 30 minutes before a newly registered item becomes available. The process of registration is 10 silver. You may choose to receive e-mail notifications when an item is purchased. You can collect money from any Auction House in the game world. On the other hand, items that were not purchased are rejected after three days, and the only means of getting them back is to visit the exact Auction House where you registered them in the first place. Items that were not sold, still add up to the list of 30 items, so unless you retrieve them, you won't be able to register new items, or try to resell the current ones. Cities charge tax (20%), and an additional one is provided by guilds (if one exists). You can abolish the first one by achieving the title of Patron, but the second tax is obligatory.
Important information concerning trading with other players:
- To trade items, register them in one of the Auction Houses.
- Items that were not sold, need to be retrieved from a specific Auction House.
- Market prices depend on demand and supply.
- You can register 30 items at once.
- You can be charged with two different taxes.
