Quests | Game mechanics
Black Desert Online is full of main and side quests. By default, quests are selected according to a specific scheme (only quests concerning combat and hunting monsters). If you want to receive any other quests (fishing, gathering, etc.), you have to select specific icons on your own! The above picture presents where these icons are located. You can modify this screen as you wish, and remove quests that you are not interested in. You can also sort them according to distance or meaning.
Main quests will be given directly by Black Spirit, and you can't remove them. If you don't complete them, you won't be able to upgrade your equipment, activate your abilities and find useful gear. Main quests are marked with exclamation marks on a yellow parchment or spirit icons. Rewards can be very different, from contribution or energy points to Black Stones and equipment.
Side quests will help you to get to know with activities concerning daily routines, and thus reward in various ways. For instance, quests associated with fishing will grant you high quality fishing rods or fishing outfits, and special tokens that can be exchanged for Fisherman's bait. Side quests are a main source of contribution points and energy, but not experience.
Check the appropriate section of your journal and check all the available options concerning quests. You can follow your progress, and see what is required to complete a quest or what the reward is.
