Light machine guns in Apex Legends Apex Legends Guide and Tips
Last update: 20 February 2019
In Apex Legends, you'll encounter light machine guns that are effective on short and medium ranges. In opposition to normal pistols, machine guns can fire extended bursts of fire, but the accuracy will suffer. Moreover, light machine guns can be effective on long ranges, but only when you fire single shots.
- When in close range, fire longer bursts to the upper body of the opponent.
- At medium range, switch to semi-automatic or fire short bursts while aiming for the head.
- Don't reload the weapon after a few shots if there are targets nearby.
- If your weapon has a long reload time, and you need to finish up an opponent, use your side weapon, and reload the main weapon later on in a safe location.
Below you can find weapon guide to Apex Legends:
M600 Spitfire - the best machine gun
M600 Spitfire belongs to light machine gun category and is characterized by its high accuracy and high rate of fire. M600 Spitfire uses heavy ammo and holds 35 rounds. A body shot deals 20 damage, while a headshot deals 40 damage.
Recoil
The screenshot above shows the spray pattern for M600 Spitfire (medium range). As can be noticed, the recoil is serious and twisted. The weapon is stable after firing 6 rounds, as the next 8 rounds hit the same location. When it comes to mitigating recoil, the weapon yanks up and left, and then right and up. When firing M600 Spitfire, it is best to deplete the half of the clip (around 17 bullets) while countering the recoil by pointing the mouse down.
Mods
M600 Spitfire can receive following mods:
- Mag - a bigger clip means more damage to your opponents
- Optic - an additional scope will increase the accuracy of the weapon, especially when firing at longer ranges.
- Barrel - lowers the recoil
- Stock - a weapon stock improving its stability i.e. accuracy
Devotion LMG
Devotion LMG is a modern light machine gun using energy rounds. Devotion LMG holds 44 rounds, which gives it an advantage over most of the rifles appearing in the game. A body shot deals 17 damage, while a headshot deals 34 damage. Unfortunately, Devotion LMG is a rather slow weapon, and its recoil is quite big.
Recoil
The screenshot above shows the spray pattern for Devotion LMG (medium range). As can be noticed, when firing longer bursts, the weapon yanks up and left, and then right. When firing with Devotion LMG, counter the recoil by moving the mouse down and little to the right.
Mods
Devotion LMG can receive following upgrades:
- Hop-Up - adds an additional firing mode
- Optic - an additional scope will increase the weapon accuracy, especially when firing on a longer distance.
- Barrel - lowers the recoil
- Stock - a weapon stock improving its stability i.e. accuracy
