Game Guide - Hints Alien: Isolation Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

Alien Isolation is a stealth-based game. In this chapter you'll learn about weapons and how to avoid the Alien. The most important thing is to keep moving. The Alien likes to enter a room where you are several times. When he enters the room for the first time, nothing bad will happen. Just hide under the desk or in the corner and wait until he leaves. When he's in the room for the second time, he'll start looking for you. You won't be safe under the desk or in the corner, so try to move as much as possible.

1.) Weapons: You have several types of weapons that you can use

  • Revolver - very effective against humans, not that much against androids. One shot in the head will kill every human. Its high level of noise is a big drawback. You can't hurt or scare the Alien with it.
  • Noisemaker - The noisemaker is a device that generates noise and lures the enemies where you want. You can throw it into a group of human enemies, so the Alien focuses on them, or distract the Alien (e.g. when he's close and you can't avoid him. You just throw the noisemaker as far as you can and the Alien will run to it)
  • Molotov - Molotovs are very effective against humans. Just like the noisemaker, it can be thrown into a group of humans. It generates noise.
  • Stun baton - Perfect against humans and androids. One charge makes the enemies more vulnerable to damage (hits with the baton). It doesn't generate noise so it's perfect for stealth kills.
  • Pipe bomb - The pipe bomb generates a lot of noise and has a huge area of impact. Good for eliminating the enemies, but it attracts the Alien.
  • Smoke bomb - Using this bomb, you can get through groups of enemies unnoticed.
  • EMP Mine - It works like the stun baton, but it makes noise and stuns everyone around it. Great against humans and androids.
  • Flashbang - It blinds all enemies around it. Makes a lot of noise.
  • Flamethrower - You'll get the flamethrower later on. It's the most powerful, and the only effective against the Alien, weapon. Perfect when you can't run away from the Alien, great against humans. Not very effective against androids.
  • Bolt gun - Great against humans and androids. One shot (in case of androids, in the head) is enough to kill the enemy. Ineffective against the Alien.
  • Shotgun - A stronger version of the revolver. It has a smaller magazine, but deals a lot more damage. One shot is enough to kill humans. Androids are less vulnerable, but they will get a lot of damage as well. Ineffective against the Alien.

2.) Using the environment: There are several ways to avoid the Alien.

  • Lockers - You can hide from the Alien inside lockers. It's perfect for a short period of time. If you stay inside a locker for too long, the Alien will come back to a place where he heard a noise for the last time. The Alien will adapt and he'll check all the lockers. When he does, hold your breath. It's your last resort.
  • Furniture - Beds, desks etc. You can crawl under them and hide. Just like lockers, it's just a temporary solution.
  • Dark rooms - You can also hide in corners, behind crates and in vents. If you're lucky, the Alien won't notice you if you don't move.
