Sneaking
If you want to sneak between enemies you should move while crouching to make less noise. You can also hide behind cover to avoid detection. The enemies have limited visibility cones, which means they won't notice you if you approach them from behind or from the side.
Hiding
Weird West lets you completely disappear out of enemy sight by hiding in tall grass. You can also hide the bodies of incapacitated enemies there to prevent other patrolling foes from finding them.
Distracting enemies
You can use various items to distract enemies. Throwing an item or turning off an oil lamp should lure in a patrolling foe.
Incapacitating enemies
You can neutralize an unaware enemy by approaching them from behind. You won't kill them, but you can still loot them and hide the body so other foes don't spot it.
Using the environment
You can take advantage of the environment during combat. For example, shooting an oil lamp causes an explosion and sets the nearby area on fire. Shooting explosive barrels causes a much bigger explosion.
Ranged combat
Note that all firearms available in Weird West are only effective at a specific range. For example, shotguns are excellent at close range while rifles let you eliminate targets from a long distance. Revolvers are versatile, effective at both ranges but not excelling at any.
Melee combat
Melee weapons are only effective from up close but are very useful if you manage to sneak up on an enemy. They're also useful for killing certain animals and saving ammo.
