While exploring the world map by using Kodiak, you can encounter all sorts of randomly generated events. There are three types of random events.
The first type is an ambush. During your exploration, you may encounter groups of enemies who are ready to attack you. When you receive notification of such an action you have four options:
- attempt to escape - this action offers you a chance to avoid the battle and run away;
- surprise the opponent (requires the Hard Ass skill) - allows you to attack the opponent. The battle will take place anyway, but the first round is yours;
- try to make an evasive action (requires Survival skill) - allows you to use the terrain in order to escape and avoid the battle;
- engage in the battle.
If you fail to escape, you will be moved to the battlefield right away. That's where you may examine the battlefield and select the best strategy. Remember that in this case, you have a Kodiak vehicle among your team that has a high firepower.
The second type of encounters are meetings with various NPCs. They may be hostile or friendly, depending on what faction they belong to and what level of reputation you have in case of a particular faction. Quite often these characters can offer various types of valuable items. In order to acquire them, you must have well-developed skills or pay the right amount of cash.
The third type or random encounter are random places. These can be all sorts of shelters where you can regenerate the team's strength or carry out Kodiak repairs. You will also encounter traders offering a variety of goods. These locations are not fixed on the map and they will disappear after interacting with them.
