Chapter 1 final boss fight
In the final moments of Chapter 1 of Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader, when attempting to return to your ship, you'll be attacked by a powerful boss, Chaos Marine Aurora. You have clashed with the cult leader earlier in the game, but this time the boss is much more formidable.
The opponent will have minions to help him in battle, and additionally, can summon more of them during the clash. Before the fight happens, make sure that your party members have some grenades, bombs, and medkits at the ready.
Watch our video guide, in which we show how we managed to defeat Chaos Marine Aurora and her allies.
How to defeat Chaos Marine Aurora?
Aurora has a lot of powerful AoE attacks. At the beginning of the first round, the boss will fire 8 projectiles that can damage your party heavily.
Proper placement of your characters is key for the initial phase of the battle and avoiding this attack. If all party members are close to each other, Aurora's attack will most likely reach every member of your party.
To mitigate her AoEs, try to place heroes so the stronger ones protect and block access to the weaker ones.
Aurora has 320 health points, and her armor makes her resistible to damage-dealing abilities. Order your strongest heroes to attack the boss, while the remaining characters should focus on 2 groups of lesser enemies so they don't interfere during the fight. For this, use bombs or AoEs like Idira's electric abiltiies.
To quickly deprive the boss of her health points, use skills such as:
- Expose Weakness
- Ignite (deals fire damage and applies burning status)
- Bring it Down (awards extra actions to allies)
- Endure and Voice of Command to buff your party
- Iron Arm (increases Strength and Toughness by 10 points)
- Break Their Ranks (additional damage dealt multiplied by the number of enemies in the nearest vicinity of the hero)
- Finest Hour (grants an extra turn with full AP and MP and without limits to attack)
In the third round, Aurora will relocate to the stairs and summon reinforcements. Quickly throw grenades at new enemies or use AoEs to clear the area and be able to focus on the main opponent.
If possible, try to quickly eliminate the sniper that is placed near the stairs. Argenta specializes in ranged combat. Her Deadeye Shot can reach targets far away.
