Mr. Toad
When you respond to Mr. Toad's call, you will notice a suspicious individual. No matter what you say, you will head to the apartment where you spent your last evening.
You may look around the apartment that has been devastated in the fight you had here before. In the background you can hear a child crying - sounds like Mr. Toad's son. After a brief search head toward the Door on the right side of the room. When you go downstairs, walk toward Snow and open the door to Mr. Toad's apartment.
Mr. Toad apparently hides what has just happened, so you will have to conduct an investigation his apartment.
After the conversation with Mr. Toad, start searching through his apartment. Behind you, there is the door with a Busted Latch (You discovered something). Next to it, there is a broken Lamp laying on the floor. When you have investigated the hall, walk down the stairs on the left, which lead to the salon.
In the salon you can see a Stain on the wall, a Fireplace Poker, a Dust Ring on the table where the lamp used to stand, and Marks on the Window.
Mr. Toad makes up unbelievable stories about the items you find. You can catch Toad in a lie three times.
Picking up the fireplace poker:
1. I thought you cut your hand. | You caught toad in a lie |
2. Made a fire in a heat wave?
3. Why's the poker still out?
4. ... | Toad talked his way out of that one |
Finding the marks on window sill:
1. You don't have spare keys?
2. Why didn't Junior let you in?
3. You wouldn't need keys. | You caught toad in a lie |
4. ... | Toad talked his way out of that one |
To be able to catch Mr. Toad in lie for the third time, approach the table with a distinctive mark on it and say "The broken lamp was here" - this triggers another part of the conversation
1. I just don't buy it | |
2. The mark in the dust | You caught toad in a lie |
3. The power outlet | |
4. ... | Toad talked his way out of that one |
After trying to catch Mr. Toad in lie, you can either openly tell him he was lying or threaten him.
If you choose "You lied, Toad" option, he will admit that and calmly reveal the truth.
If you choose "[Threaten Toad]", you will threaten him or try to beat the truth out of him. This will be interrupted by Mr. Toad's, son who will defend his father. Toad will reveal all the truth, but everyone in the room, including Snow, will take amiss.
Lawrence 1
If you chose Toad's Apartment in Choices chapter:
After getting to Lawrence's apartment Snow will ask you how will you proceed. Your answer determines whether or not Snow will trust you more.
1. Let's focus on what we saw in the mirror | Snow trusts you a bit more |
2. It's not that simple | Snow is willing to trust you |
3. We need to question Lawrence. | Snow doesn't entirely agree |
4. ... | Snow chose to focus on Lawrence and Faith |
To enter the apartment, you need to use the Door (optionally, look through the Window on the right). On entering the apartment, you will see apparently dead Lawrence laying on the floor. Soon it turns out that he is still alive, and Snow asks you to bring a glass of water. Go toward the sink on the right side of the apartment, pour water into a glass, and return to Lawrence.
After fruitless attempts at saving Lawrence's life, proceed to searching through his apartment. You can find here a bloodied Knife, a pool of Blood, and a Bullet Hole in the wall behind the armchair. You may also interact with Lawrence to examine the area around Lawrence. There is a Gun and a Shell nearby. Then you may go to another part of the apartment. There you will find an ajar bed Panel and a suicide Note on it. After you have carefully investigated the apartment, walk toward Snow and use the Closet.
On opening the closet a suspect will jump out of it and start running away. Your must catch him.
[QTE]
This sequence starts from dashing through the door and dodging tossed items (press the buttons appearing on the screen). After you have squeezed by a couch, you will have to choose one of the two doors.
The door on the right is left ajar, which may suggest that the fugitive has run through it. However, the door on the left - the one with a swaying number on it - is the correct one.
If you chose the door on the left - You stayed on his trail
If you chose the door on the right - He almost gave you the slip
Regardless of the choice, the result is exactly the same.
You run into a hall and dash toward a window, while dodging (the button on the screen) an opening door. You get outside through the window.
[/QTE]
When the sequence is complete, start a conversation with the suspect. He claims to be a private investigator (which is a lie) and introduces himself as Dee. Regardless of your dialogue choices, you get to the point where you can beat the truth out of him ("[Hit him]" - He will remember that). Unfortunately you will find yourself caught in a trap, and get knocked out by his brother Dum.
When you wake up, it turns out that you are left with only one trail - Trip Trap bar. That is where you will head next. During a ride in a cab, you will have an opportunity to talk with Snow. She will ask you who is your main suspect.
1. Her husband | You named Lawrence as your suspect |
2. The Woodsman | You named Woodsman as your suspect |
3. Dee | You named Dee and Dum as your suspects |
4. Bluebeard | Snow agree's... |
5. The Pimp | You suspect Faith's Pimp |
6. ... |
If you chose "The Woodsman":
1. Yes | She'll remember that |
2. He's dangerous | Snow agrees... |
3. Need to question him | |
4. ... |
The chapter ends with Snow leaving off in the cab and Bigby entering Trip Trap bar.
Lawrence 2
If you chose Lawrence's Apartment in Choices chapter:
After arriving into Lawrence's apartment:
You find him alive, sitting in an armchair after a failed suicide attempt. During the conversation with him, you can either tell him the truth about Faith or lie
1. [half-truth] Your wife is missing
2. Your wife has been killed | You told him faith is dead |
3. [Lie] someone heard a gunshot. | You lied |
4. ... |
Regardless of the answer, you will be interrupted by someone trying to break into the apartment. Hide inside the wardrobe.
Remember:
If you jump out of the wardrobe in time, you will save Lawrence.
If you simply wait and watch the course of events, and do nothing, Lawrence will shoot himself.
Regardless of the choice, you will start the pursuit after the burglar. (chapter Lawrence 1)
