Before a mission starts and during a mission, you can select supplies that you want to bring to Mars. As much as the cargo you select during a mission depends on what you need at that very moment, picking your equipment before a mission is very important.

Due to the fact that not all sponsors will allow you to transport more cargo, choose wisely - Setting cargo in Surviving Mars - Gameplay - Surviving Mars Game Guide

Due to the fact that not all sponsors will allow you to transport more cargo, choose wisely.

Which cargo should I choose?

Your first pick should be Polymers, Machine Parts, and Electronics - you won't be able to extract or craft them at the beginning. Drones are a must-have - you won't build your base without them. An RC Transporter is useful when you extract metals from the surface, and you can't reach them with your drones. Your RC Explorer analyzes and speeds up technological progress. The most important prefabrication is the Drone Hub. You can skip other prefabrications for now, unless you want a backup plan in case you run out of resources. You could select a Moisture Vaporator and Stirling Generator. What you pick will depend to a great extent on sponsor funding and cargo capacity. Choose wisely.
