How to get money in Surviving Mars?

This chapter contains information on how to increase the funds granted by sponsors. If you won't be able to create a self-sustaining colony, this will allow you to increase your chances of survival.

There are two methods to gain more funds from a sponsor: technology and export.

Technology

There are two repeatable technologies - ones that can be repeatedly researched - that increase the financial capacity of the sponsor. Note that Martian patents are available from the beginning for the Politian commander profile.

Icon	Name and description
	Martian Patents (Sociology) - License Martian technology for use back on Earth. This will give you $500M. This technology can be researched repeatedly. Research cost: 3,000.
	Martian Copyrights (Sociology) - License Martian copyrights for use back on Earth. This will give you $2,000M. This technology can be researched repeatedly. Research cost: 20,000.

Export

You can gain additional funds by exporting rare metals. You can transport up to 30 units with a single rocket. 30 rare metals increase your funds by $750M. A price for a unit of rare metals is $25M. This is a rather unprofitable method of gaining funds - you should use them to manufacture electronic products instead.
