Getting resources and construction | Tips State of Decay Guide

There are two types of items in State of Decay:
- Items such as weapons, drinks, ammunition you can store in (Supply Locker), you'll get Influence points for that From the bank, you can always select items to take on a mission.
- Resources required for the survival of your community at the base. They allow for the expansion of buildings, temporary strengthening your community etc.
Resources can be found in closed containers when searching different sites. When you find the package you can:
- Open the container in place (holding down the attack button: Break Open) - typical items will then fall out of the container, such as those you find at every step.
- Remove the container (holding the jump button: Load Rucksack) and deliver it to the base. This will give you a resource for the community, but to have such a burden on your back quickly consumes stamina when running and fighting.
- Call the radio "runners" who will take charge of the base (Radio Home).
Keep in mind that resources are important and crucial for survival. In the early stages you will need materials for buildings, then food and medicine, and in the end game you will start running out of fuel and ammo. So try every time you leave the base to go back with rucksack, and if you can - call runners.
In search of resources and survivors Lily, the radio operator will be very helpful. Just select last tab (Home ) in your journal, mark a Radio Room and ask for help in locating any type of resource. After some time on the map magnifying glass icon appears, it marks where to find the resources needed.
Constructing additional buildings apart of normal building materials, you will often require specific items. If materials resource will exhaust while building is in process Lily will tell you that they you need to find, for example, copper pipes, pans, bolts, or punching bags to finish your construction. This kind of items won't take place in a backpack nor you have to wear them as a resource.
Instead of looking for such items, you can use the "Construction Advice" on the radio, it'll complete the construction immediately, without the need to provide additional materials.
Daily resources and outposts
Every day your community consumes a certain amount of resources. You can create outpost in place, where there are some resources instead of running every time with loaded rucksack
To organize such a place you must clean out the zombies and complete search, do not take resources, do not call runners. For example, if the restaurant you can find 3-4 packages of food, select the radio option "Establish Outpost", so that resources left will be added to your base until exhaustion.
Outposts are marked on the map with green icons with a progress bar, list of all outposts is also available in journal.
The journal icon for each of the outpost shows what kind of resource it provides. When the outpost runs out of resources the icon changes to watchtower, you should destroy it and search for new outpost (with resources).
Getting resources in this way is easier and safer than continuous running. If, for example, you will find six centers with materials and 2 of ammunition, you should not have any problems with the protection and expansion of the base.
What and how to build?
The first thing about the expansion that game will hint you will be need for an additional place to sleep in the church. Apart beds, you should also think about upgrading the kitchen.
In the church you can, build the gym allowing you to improve your inactive character's skills. In this way, when your current character dies the rest of the characters will be a little trained and you will have better choice.
Selection of buildings is up to you and from you tactics of development. In the later stages of the game think about building the library and perform and do some research. This allows you to, for example, the production of advanced medicine, a collection of vegetables from the garden, etc.
