Navigation around the world | The basics Samorost 3 Guide

In the game, there are no dialogues or any statements from the character that could be interpreted in a specific way. Your character will employ gestures, express his enthusiasm or interest and he often goes against your commands if they are not what is expected for a puzzle, or for the game.

Controls are very simple and intuitive. All you need to move around the world is the mouse and you give all commands with the left mouse button. For most of the tasks, all you need is double-click a given point. Sometimes, the game also requires you to hold down the LMB and drag the mouse, which allows you to manipulate specific items.

The mouse pointer will change its shape, depending on what type of interaction results from the click. The shape of a palm means that interaction is possible only after you meet specific requirements. If your character refuses to perform an action, even though the pointer has changed its shape into a palm, return later, e.g. after you have found an item and try to drop that item into that spot. Also, the palm represents the spots where you can use the trumpet. In such spots, you also see circles concentrating on a single spot.

All of the areas that you can walk to have been represented with the legs icon. After you click there, your character will move there, as long as there are no obstacles in his way.

The pointer can also change into an arrow that will point you in the direction of another section. Arrow always appears when you are walking over from one section to another, within a location (by the edges of the screen), as well as by cave entrances or hidden locations. Arrows also appear when you board and get off the spaceship, and while taking off and landing in the outer space.

Your basic interaction tool is the trumpet that appears in the upper-right corner of the main screen - Navigation around the world - The basics - Samorost 3 - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Your basic interaction tool is the trumpet that appears in the upper-right corner of the main screen. Later into the game, also other items, which you are going to need to complete tasks, appear here. What you do is hold down the left mouse button over the item, drag it (by moving the mouse while still holding down the button) and release over the required spot (by releasing the LMB), which results in an interaction. It is worth pointing out that the trumpet starts glowing whenever you come close to an interactive spot that you should use it on.
