Decisions and endings | Secrets Quantum Break Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
In Quantum Break one of the mechanics that change the gameplay are called Junctions. Those are short chapter that appear at the end of each act. While playing through them with a supporting character (Paul Serene) you make decisions that have an impact on the story of the game. However, they don't have much of a meaning for the player, as they only cosmetically interfere (or sometimes not at all) with the world of the game. The effects of your decisions can be seen during the episodes shown at the end of each act. The game has a single ending, during which the player saves the world, killing Paul Serene in a final battle. However, you can decide which of the supporting characters will live or die knowing the consequences of your choices. Those are presented below.
Each junction gives you two choices, not necessarily divided into a good and a bad one. The decision you make rarely has any impact on the story after the act during which you've made it. Before you make your decision you can play fragments of future, which will show you the results of your choices. However, those are only flashes and are not complete. Below you can find the available choices and their effects.
Act 1, Junction 1:
- Hardline - this choice will cause Amy to get executed during the episode. A taxi driver named Nick will be Jack's companion. During the Act IV, part 1 you will stumble upon a group of students on a strike because of that.
- PR - Amy will be spared and will help Jack (you won't meet Nick). During the Act Iv, part 1 you will stumble upon a law enforcement service and people that hunt you.
Act 2, Junction 2:
- Personal - Paul tries to convince Jack for a cease-fire during the episode. He won't be informed nor have any suspicion about Hatch's betrayal, as he wasn't a witness of his conversation with Dr Amaral. You will be given TV recordings with a speaking Hatch.
- Business - Paul focuses on the company and on his speech, Jack is thrown into the jail. He stumbles upon Dr Amaral speaking with Hatch and becomes suspicious about the loyalty of the people closest to him. You will see Paul speaking on TV.
Act 3, Junction 3:
- Amaral - Paul decides to trust Dr Amaral, allowing the woman to live - this is also the only way to prevent her from dying. Additionally, this is a "correct" choice (Sofia is not a traitor).
- Hatch - Dr Amaral dies during the last episode, killed by Paul (Hatch is a traitor either way).
Act 4, Junction 4:
- Control - Paul keeps control of himself, preventing innocent people from dying. If you didn't trust Dr Amaral, she will be strangled by Paul. Paul convinces Liam Burke into cooperation, you will encounter him before locating Countermeasure in the Monarch headquarters (he will live, Jack won't kill him). Charlie dies killed by Hatch. Fiona is your navigator through the Monarch headquarters.
- Surrender - Paul becomes aggressive and vengeful. If you didn't trust Dr Amaral, she will die (killed by Paul with a paperweight). Liam is killed by Hatch. Charlie is your navigator through the Monarch headquarters.
