Route 7, Fire Trial, Route 8 and Lush Jungle | Walkthrough Pokemon Moon Guide
Last update: 10 January 2017
This chapter contains the walkthrough and a list of item locations. You'll also find information on what Pokemons can be caught and how to defeat encountered enemies. You'll also find a walkthrough for two trials on Akala island.
Route 7
You'll find the way to the next objective next to the shops that allow you to make purchases with a 50% discount. You'll find yourself on Route 7. Before you proceed to the next location, take an electric pokemon with you. He will be useful in NPC encounters. Before you proceed to the objective, get to the beach that is located on the left. Board Lapras and swim out to the basin. You'll be facing a guy who is swimming.
Dakote has two pokemons - Surskit, lvl 19, and Dewpider, lvl 19. Both pokemons are water-based, so keep an electric pokemon at hand.
A small bank on the left is currently unavailable, so proceed upstream. The underwater stones allow us to fish out pokemons or items. You can do that using the fishing rod received earlier. List of Pokemons that can be encountered in the water by Route 7:
- Magikarp
- Tentacool
- Wishiwashi
- Wingull
- Finneon
- Pyukumuku
- Tiare has only one pokemon - Alomomola, a 19lvl water pokemon. I recommend equipping an electric pokemon.
- Casey will put up Mareanie, a 19lvl water pokemon.
When you approach the new beach, get on the shore and embark on Lapras. You can find a Pearl and a Zygard Cube fragment. Possible encounters include:
Diglett
Proceed further until you reach a stony bank. Max Repel can be found there. Get down from it and use Lapras to enter the water. There you'll find sunken Antidote and some enemies:
Proceed to the other side of a small Island that was previously unavailable. You'll encounter an enemy there:
Vanessa will field two pokemons: Shellder, lvl. 18, and Corsole, lvl. 19. Both creatures are water pokemons.
Small ponds are a home to all aforementioned pokemon. Aside from that, you can fish out Heart Scale, Pearl, and Big Pearl. You'll also find TM73 Thunder Wave. Now proceed to the objective. You'll find yourself in Volcano Park. The bushes right next to the entrance contain new pokemons:
- Salandit
- Cubone
- Magby
- Fletchling
Further along the way, you can find Hyper Potion. The area behind the item will be the location of your first encounter in this zone:
Mariah will field only one pokemon - well-known Meowth, lvl 19.
Time to pass through the tunnel - you'll find yourself on the top. Before you proceed upstairs, go below. Another part of Zygard Cube is found there. The step above contains Charcoal. Cross through the next tunnel, you'll encounter an enemy.
Jim has a 21lvl Kadabre.
Then you'll find TM39 Rock Romb and a next enemy.
Hiker has an 18lvl Roggnerole who is vulnerable to psychic attacks. The next pokemon who will be fielded by your enemy is Machop, lvl 19. When dealing with him, use flying pokemons, or stay with psychic ones.
Descend down the stairs - a Burn Heal can be found there. Now, a fiery trial awaits you. Find some water, earth, or stone pokemons.
Fire Trial
Follow the road up the hill until you find an NPC that will allow you to begin the trial. Begin the trial. Your first task is to recognize which pokemon has changed his position. You have to remember the first setting of three halted pokemons, and choose the one that looks different than before.
- The middle one will be the first to change the position. Then, you'll fight with him - he is at 18 experience level. Marowak is strongly countered by a water element.
- Time for the second switch. It turns out that Hiker has obstructed the view on Marowaks' switch. Mark him as the right answer. Now you have to face him - he will call a 19lvl Magmar. As previously, try to equip a water pokemon.
- Time for the final switch. Marowaks will be joined by Hiker. After the dance it turns out that they were joined by Totem Salazzle. He is the main enemy of this try. Remember that during combat he can call for reinforcements. He is best countered by water pokemons, but in case you don't have any of such pokemons, choose an earth or stone one. During combat, the enemy can poison your pokemon. If you have a water pokemon, remember to activate Z-Crystal. It will facilitate the whole encounter.
Completing the trial will result in a reward: Firium Z and 10 Quick Balls. You'll also receive Charizard as a form of mount. He will allow you to return to previously visited locations. To proceed further, we need to visit Route 7 again. Aside from Charizard, you'll receive access to Poke Pelago. Now you can take care of feeding and developing pokemons from a distance.
Visit Poke Center once you return. Then proceed to the locked tunnel. The successful trial has unlocked the way forward.
Route 8
Look at that: sea view!
Before you follow the road, get to the beach seen before you. There you can fish out previously known pokemons or items. Enter Lapras, you'll find a Max Repel. Return to the road. A Zygard Cube fragment can be found near a small house. Inside, if you agree to help, you'll receive a task to meet Stufful who can be found on Route 8. Leave the house and proceed forward. Finally, you'll be accosted by Colress. He'll give you TM43 Flame Charge. After the conversation, you'll notice the bush for catching pokemon, with following creatures inside:
- Salandit
- Fletchinder
- Yungoos
- Trumbeak
- Stufful
You'll also encounter an enemy:
Kiana, who will field a 20 lvl Eevee.
There is a small descend behind the bushes. A Big Pearl can be found there. Return to the road and proceed forward. You'll encounter some enemies along the way:
Mikey, who has two pokemons: a 20 lvl Bounsweet and a 20 lvl Fletchinder.
Further ahead you'll find an item: a Hyper Potion, while a Miracle Seed can be found by the bushes. Mount Stoutland right by the entrance to the higher areas to find Adrenaline Orb. A contender will face you behind the fruit tree, while another fight awaits a bit further:
- Nicki is your first enemy, fielding a 21 lvl Miltank
- Tyrone will have two pokemons: an lvl 20 Archena and an lvl 20 Shieldon. Both enemies can be easily countered using a water pokemon.
After the fight, enter the bushes on the left. There is an Ultra Ball at the end. When approaching Poke Center you'll receive an ability to proceed in the direction of the jungle. There is a campus there - use Stoutland next to the guy in the hat. You should find Awakening. There is a Thunder Stone (an item that allows you to change Eevee into Jolton) behind the trailer. Then, proceed in the direction of Poke Center. If you need to, heal your pokemons, and proceed to the building next to the center. If necessary, you can buy Fresh Water and Soda Pop that are used to regenerate injured pokemons. The parking further ahead will be an arena to a fight with two golfers:
- Maile has a 20 lvl Alolan Meowth.
- Alan will field a 20 lvl Rockruff.
Once the fights are won, proceed to the building's back. A Dive Ball can be found there. Return to the road, but instead of proceeding to your objective, get down to the stony beach, and mount Lapras. The cracks contain items such as: Hearth Scale, Pearl, and Big Pearl. Aside from that, you can catch some pokemons:
- Tentacool
- Magikarp
Swim further: there is a Water Stone underwater. This item will allow you to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon. Return to the island that is in the middle of the way from the stony beach.
You will be facing Samuel and Guy. They will field two Machops (21 and 19 lvl respectively). Use a fire or psychic pokemon to counter your enemies.
Now it's time to proceed in the direction of the new trial.
Lush Jungle
You'll find yourself in a previously inaccessible part of Route 5. Before you can explore it, you need to get past the new trial. Talk to Mallow who will present you the rules of successful completion of this trial. You will have to find 4 ingredients: Mago Berry, Tiny Mushroom, Revival Herb and Miracle Seed. Mallow will give you a Forage Bag so you can complete your task. This place also has a number of interesting pokemons, but you can do that once you've through with the trial. This location also contains a stone that allows you to evolve Eevee into Leafeon. The location and instructions on how to use the stone are located in the chapter on Eevee.
Follow the only available path - to the left. You should encounter a small niche. Use Stoutland to find the first ingredient - Tiny Mushroom. Once you've picked up the item, you'll be attacked by lvl 22 Shinnothic. Remember that these areas are best traversed with a fire pokemon at hand! Unfortunately, during the trial you cannot catch any pokemon. Proceed forward without crossing through bushes in the middle - you'll return here later. You'll reach a new part of the location. A TM can be seen in the distance, but you'll visit it later. You'll be attacked by a pokemon hidden in the tree. It is an lvl 20 Fomantis. Mago Berry can be found on the ground once you're through with the fight - of course, you'll need to use Stoutland to pick it up. This location also contains X Sp. Atk. Return to the previous area and cross through the bushes in the middle, and proceed to the path below. The way will lead you to the next part of the jungle. Destroy all the stones using Tauros - Miracle Seed is found on the burned ground. Time to find the final quest item. Leave using the second exit. You'll find a Big Root along the way. Time to return to the bushes that are located in the middle - this time use the upper path. Use Stoutland before you do that, there is an X Defense in the ground. When you've used the upper path, turn right. You can cross through a small crevice to find a TM86 Grass Knot. Now use Stoutland again to find the final item, Revival Herb. There are three potential locations that may contain the plant. Each attempt results in an encounter with Formantis. The correct location of the herb is by the visibly trimmed grass. Don't forget about the next encounter with Formantis. After a short cut-scene you'll be facing lvl 24 Totem Laurantis.
As always, Totem Pokemon has better base statistics. Use a fire pokemon to counter him. During the encounter, he'll summon an lvl 22 Trumbeak. Aside from that, put a grass pokemon in the team to revive or heal others. Totem Pokemon has a powerful strike that can kill the recipient with one hit, so have a lot of Revive and Super Potion.
You'll receive a Grassarium Z, TM Smart Strike and 10 Nest Balls once you've won. Now it's time to prepare for an encounter with Kahuna. It fields stone pokemons, so prepare a group of grass pokemons for the fight. Return to the jungle and catch new pokemon!
- Paras
- Comfey
- Fomantis
