This chapter provides description of all the basic terms in the game that the beginner player may not be familiar with. These constitute the basics of the world exploration.

1. Pokemon - These are creatures that you encounter across all islands. Pokemon trainers catch them to enrich their collections, to fight with other trainers and complete all of the challenges that they encounter. Each of the creatures has specific abilities. At a single moment, they can have four abilities, plus one from the Z-Ring. There are different stages of pokemon evolution, which are attained after the appropriate level is achieved. In your group, you can have up to six pokemons at a time. Remember to balance out individual pokemons in your group. With six water pokemons in your possession, you will not fare off too well.

2. Poke Ball - Pokemon trainers use their creatures to catch new ones. There are different forms of Poke Balls, which will make it easier for you to catch pokemons. In the game world, they can be bought in each Poke Center.

3. Capturing of Pokemons - This is the basic activity that you perform while exploring isles. To catch one, you first have to strain it. For this, use pokemons that are not too good in combat with the creature that you want to catch. It is easiest to catch a pokemon when it is low on health. This is when you have to throw your Poke Ball at it. At the third effective click, a golden sign will appear, which will let you know that the pokemon has been captured.

4. Evolution - This is the way in which pokemons mature They then change their looks and abilities, and sometimes even their type (element). For a pokemon to evolve, it has to fight and receive a lot of care. In the pokemon world, there are ways for forced evolution, using magic stones. Use ones, for example to force the evolution of the pokemon called Eevee, one that can have many various stages of evolution.

5. Pokedex - In this part, Pokedex is your living friend. It shows you successive mission objectives, talks to you and reveals the world that you have already explored. Here, you will find the list of available pokemons. Unfortunately, you first have to discover them in the game world. It also has a camera, thanks to which you will immortalize important moments and take a shot of wild pokemons.

6. Experience - Pokemons gain experience by means of defeating wild creatures. During the fight with other players, you receive a greater number of these. This also depends on the level of the pokemon that you are fighting with.

7. Pokemon Refresh - Is about refreshing your pokemons. Creatures that you have in your collection will often get dirty, wet or will receive a negative status that needs removing. You can refresh your pokemon, heal it or feed it to make it feel more self-confident. Thanks to such actions, the pokemon grows more attached to you and fights better. This also affects the speed at which the pokemon evolves.

8. TM - TMs are special abilities that you can find while exploring the game world. You can also receive them from NPCs or buy them. Using a TM will allows you to teach a pokemon a specific ability (any number of times).

9. Ride Pokemon - These are pokemons that you can travel on. During the game, you receive one from an NPC at a specific point into the game. Such a pokemon will allow you to swim, destroy rocks, swim or sniff for new items.

10. Z-Ring and Z-Crystal - Using the Z-Ring, you can combine your attack with one that has a Z-Crystal. Not every pokemon can have every crystal. They correspond to specific elements and you can receive them from NPCs during the game. As soon as you put the crystal on a pokemon, you simply need to use the new ability during the battle.

11. Zygard Cube - This is a mysterious cube that you receive on Akala isle. After you have collected fragments hidden across islands, you receive a special reward. During the game, fragments look like glittering dust. They are easy to miss, so keep an eye out for them!
