Spiritual successor to Rising Storm 2: Vietnam escapes development hell. '83 is expected to combine realism with accessibility
New video footage of '83, the promising tactical shooter we've been waiting for since 2019, has appeared.

'83 is a tactical online shooter, designed as the spiritual successor to Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. The game's creators, the people from Blue Dot Games studio, have just released new video material of this game.
The video highlights the gameplay, featuring realistic combat mechanics, large-scale battles, and the need for close collaboration with fellow soldiers.
'83 is exclusively heading to PC. The game is set to be released on Steam Early Access later this year.
This is the debut project of Blue Dot Games studio, but the people working there aren't novices. The company was founded by veterans who had previously worked on the Rising Storm series.
- '83 will take us back to the times of the Cold War and allow us to participate in a fictional conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact.
- The devs are to track the results of all fights and this will affect the situation on the servers in following battles.
Several years of waiting and development hell
Players have been waiting for this project for a very long time. It was first announced in 2019 and at that time it was still being developed by Antimatter Games studio. However, the work was very difficult and was ultimately suspended. In 2023, the rights were taken over by Blue Dot Games, a new company founded by people who had been working on this title until now. Nevertheless, it wasn't until November of last year that the developers secured an investor who supplied the funds to restart and continue the work.
The demand for this game is high. It has been almost 8 years since the release of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. If you haven't had the chance to play it yet, there is a discount on Steam until February 1st, which allows you to buy the game for only $4.99.
