Sony Explains Why the PS5 Doesn't Support 1440p
The shortcomings of PS5's system are due to Sony's philosophy of console development. Can something change in this aspect? Yes, but there is one condition - you have to inform the Japanese company that there is a need for the change.
- The last few days were full of information about PS5. A lot of it was negative.
- Hideaki Nishino, vice president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, responded to some of the accusations from players.
- One conclusion can be drawn from the conversation - if you're missing something, you have to let Sony know about it loud and clear.
If you're missing something in PlayStation 5, there's a good chance that it'll be in the next system update. All you need to do is to express your opinion about what you think Sony should add to the console very loudly on the Internet. This declaration was made in a conversation between Sony Interactive Entertainment Senior Vice President Hideaki Nishino and AV Watch.
A few days ago we reported lack of support for 1440p resolution in PS5. Along with the publication of subsequent materials devoted to Sony's console, further deficiencies in its software came to light.
Some of the issues that were discussed also appeared in the conversation with Hideaki Nishino. Here's what he had to say about voices of dissatisfaction about the lack of support for 1440p resolution.
"Currently, PS5 does not support 1440p. This is due to our understanding of priorities. PS5 was created for TVs. However, if there are more voices on this issue, we may add support for this resolution in a system update. We will continue to look at the trends shaping the market."
This conversation also included the topic of PlayStation VR, which we know is supported by PlayStation 5, but only in backwards compatibility with PS4. Will we see a new model? Nishino began by saying that PS5 will significantly improve the virtual reality experience. After a while he added that in time, the new generation will offer better VR quality, which will be able to match the stronger hardware. Does this mean a second model of PlayStation VR? Nishino responded with laughter and a "no comment".
And last but not least, there's one more interesting thing about the conversation. Why isn't there a browser in PlayStation 5?
"We have serious doubts about whether you need a web browser in your gaming console. We have no plans to add it, but we will keep an eye on the situation."
We can only speculate that the lack of a web browser is due to a security breach in the PlayStation Vita and PS4 consoles that started with security gaps in the browser engine - Webkit.
