Shadows of The Damned: Hella Remastered Now Even Better on PC Thanks to Fan-Made SotDFix
The Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, the refreshed version of cult classic action game, has received the SotDFix modification, which fixes most of the shortcomings of the PC release.
Recently, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered debuted on the market. It’s a refreshed version of the 2011 cult classic and especially for PC gamers it’s a great treat, as the original was only available on consoles. The production was warmly received on Steam (it has 90% positive reviews there), so it's definitely a good port, which doesn't mean it can't be improved. That's exactly what moderator Lyall has done.
His modification is called SotDFix and it offers numerous improvements related to graphics. The mod lets you freely adjust the FOV, thus allowing you to get rid of the claustrophobic perspective typical for old console games. The LOD effect has also been improved, so that the game still renders objects in high-quality further distances, instead of their simplified versions. Plus the 60 fps limit can be lifted, but for now, this aspect of the mod is not yet fully worked out and on some PCs, it can cause sound desynchronization. The project is only on version 0.0.2 though, so hopefully this issue will be fixed in the future.
SotDFix also makes changes that owners of ultrawide monitors will appreciate. This is because the mod adds support for any resolution/aspect ratio to the game, as well as changes interface elements so that they are not stretched in ultrawide mode, as well as adjust the FOV accordingly.
All in all, these changes clearly improve the PC edition of the Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered and make it probably the best version of this production.
