The original Resident Evil 4 is considered by many fans to be the best installment of the series, so it's no surprise that its refreshed version has achieved incredible success. Released in March 2023, the remake became the series' fastest-selling installment ever.

Yesterday, Capcom announced that by December 19, 2024, Resident Evil 4 Remake had sold 9 million copies. Let's remind that in October we received information that the title found 8 million buyers. This means that another million copies were sold in just over 2 months.

Alex Aniel, a business development manager in the gaming industry and author of the book Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil, noted that this was the eighth quarter the game has been on sale. He then compared the game's result with the outcomes achieved during a similar timeframe by other installments of the series.

  1. RE4 - 1 million (9 million)
  2. RE Village - 500 thousand (7.9 million)
  3. RE7 - 400 thousand (6.1 million)
  4. RE3 - 300 thousand (5.2 million)
  5. RE2 - 300 thousand (7.8 million)
  6. RE6 - 100 thousand (5.9 million)

The conclusion is simple - RE 4 Remake is selling the fastest among all the installments released so far, significantly surpassing the result of the second place. Given the original's popularity, it's not surprising, particularly as it's an excellent game, even praised by the series' creator. We can only hope that the next installment - probably RE9 - will do just as well.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and XSX/S. The title also received a version for iOS devices.
