Check your emails. Today, Nintendo is beginning to send out confirmation emails for anyone who signed up for the Nintendo Switch 2 preview event. At the tail end of the reveal trailer two weeks ago, Nintendo announced a Direct to discuss the new console in detail scheduled for April 2nd. In the following weeks after that presentation, there will be preview events in cities all around the world that anyone can participate in.

Nintendo is starting to send out Nintendo Switch 2 preview event confirmations

A few days after the Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed, fans were able to sign up for a randomly selected chance to attend a preview event. The preview events will take place on various weekends through April, May, and early June. There was no advantage to signing up first or last, after sign ups closed on January 26th, the winners were selected randomly. To sign up, you need to have a Nintendo account.

For those who, like me, may have received sad news in their inbox today, there is still hope. The email explains that “on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 at 1:00PM PT, waitlists for this event will begin to appear on the registration page.” This could be specific to the Los Angeles event that I attempted to sign up for, so it’s worth checking your preferred cities event for specifics.

Waitlists give hope to those who didn’t make it into the initial event, but there are some key differences. The waitlist tickets will be on a first-come, first-served basis, which hints that being the first to sign up will make a difference. Maybe that means I shouldn’t be writing news about this to give myself better chances. Also, joining a waitlist does not guarantee receiving any tickets. Previous ticket holders will have to cancel their preview event before the ticket is passed on to someone else.

As I write this, I am trying not to think about the unfortunate news I got in my inbox that alerted me to this news. But my unluckiness means that another fan must be getting good news right now.
