Metro Awakening VR Officially Announced
During State of Play we saw a trailer for the FPP action game Metro Awakening, which is headed for VR and is being developed by Vertigo Games.
During today's State of Play show, Vertigo Games announced a new game from the Metro series, which, as the leaks suggested, turned out to be a game intended for virtual reality goggles - including PS VR2, MetaQuest 2+3 and Steam VR.
Metro Awakening, the spin-off of the series heading to VR, will be a single-player game in the style of other installments of this series. We also got a short trailer (below).
Awakening will be a return to the series' roots (in fact, a prequel to Metro 2033), taking the action back to the vast tunnels of the subway, albeit from 2028. We will play as Serdar, a doctor longing to reunite with his wife, traveling through mutant-filled tunnels under post-apocalyptic Moscow.
We also learned the approximate release date of Metro Awakening. The game will be released later in 2024.
Vertigo Games team is responsible for the development of Awakening - the authors of such projects as Arizona Sunshine, Skyworld and The 7th Guest VR.
Additionally, the official press release notes that 4A Games continues to work on the next main installment of the Metro series.
