„Mass Effect Will Maintain the Mature Tone of the Original Trilogy.” ME5 Director Says Sci-Fi RPG Is Different From Dragon Age, Requires „Different Kind of Love” and Will Bet on Photorealism
The executive producer of Mass Effect 5 commented on comparisons to the Dragon Age series. By the way, he mentioned the tone of the upcoming installment, which should please fans of the trilogy.
We're only two days away from the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and yesterday the first reviews of the game started appearing online. These are positive, although the title did not avoid a few significant flaws. However, BioWare is creating another production that many fans are waiting for, namely Mass Effect 5. The executive producer of this space RPG, Michael Gamble, posted a message on X about comparisons of both series.
"Lots of people asking me about Mass Effect now that Veilguard reviews are out, and Oct 31 is close.
Both are from the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a Sci Fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs... and has to have different kinds of love."
It's no wonder that following the release and good reviews of The Veilguard, more and more people are starting to ask about the new Mass Effect, which is what the studio will most likely focus on from now on. However, as Gamble rightly pointed out, these are different universes with different key people behind them. So these games should significantly differ from each other.
The dev mentioned also about the tone of the fifth installment, and his statement should please fans of Commander Shepard's story. Commander Shepard, who, by the way, may not appear in the latest part.
"Regarding tone questions: Mass Effect will maintain the mature tone of the original Trilogy. This is all I'm gonna say for now."
On the same occasion, Gamble said that Mass Effect 5 visually aims for photorealism. He also addressed the issue of The Veilguard being compared to the second part of the sci-fi trilogy in terms of production quality, responding:
"Yeah, there's a bit of a Mass Effect vibe there..."
