First (Few) Dead PS5s Reported
Shortly after the release of the PS5 in the USA and Japan, the first reports about the falling consoles appeared on the web. However, there are not too many of them, which gives hope that Sony has made sure the quality of its device is top notch.

- PlayStation 5 debuted in the USA and Japan. There are first reports of the console crashing.
- However, the current list of failures is short.
Even before the world launch of PlayStation 5 we've heard first reports of crashes. However, there were few of them. We were waiting for the US launch to assess the device's failure rate more accurately and it looks like it's better than expected. The list of faults so far is short. The most serious problem are random shutdowns and cases of the PS5 dying, as described by YouTube user Omni.
Some people also have a problem with the console when they plug an external drive into the USB connector on the back of the device. A message appears, claiming the data is corrupted and the PS5 simply shuts down after it is displayed several times. A temporary solution in some cases is to rebuild the console's database.
Besides, the malfunctions are rather minor. Comments in the previously linked thread on Reddit talk about problems connecting to PlayStation Camera, errors in the tool for transferring content from the PS4 or a loss of connection between the DualSense controller and the console.
However, the final picture of PlayStation 5's failure ration has to wait until the device launches in the rest of the world on November 19. We'll then be able to compare which manufacturer has done better work refining its next-generation consoles.
