Filming of Borderlands Movie Adaptation to Begin Soon
Preparations for the cinematic adaptation of Borderlands have started in Hungary. The filming itself should start soon. In addition, Kevin Hart's participation in the movie was confirmed.
Everything seems to indicate that the work of the cinematic adaptation of the Borderlands series is about to start. The source of these reports is an interview given to Hollywood Reporter by Adam Goodman, head of MidAtlantic Films, the largest production group in Hungary, specializing in helping foreign studios with their projects.
Goodman said that his studio has just provided Lionsgate with space to film the Borderlands movie. At the same time, he confirmed the reports that Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart will be starring in the production. The participation of this actress was officially announced some time ago, but in Hart's case, we've seen only information about the ongoing negotiations. Apparently they were successful.
The plans to adapt Borderlands were revealed as early as August 2015, but then the project went off the radar for many years. It was only in 2020 that preparations for the production started in earnest. First, it was announced that Eli Roth would be the director, and then Cate Blanchett was cast as Lilith.
MidAtlantic Films cannot complain about the lack of jobs. The company helps with the production of the TV adaptation of Halo, which is currently being shot near Budapest, and the third season of Jack Ryan. Moreover, the studio is working on an undisclosed project from Marvel universe, but in this case, Adam Goodman could not reveal any details.
It is worth mentioning that the interview published by Hollywood Reporter focuses on the fact that the movie industry in Hungary has managed the coronavirus pandemic very well. The implemented security protocols proved to be effective, which enabled continued production and reduced delays. This enables us to hope that the work on the movie adaptation of Borderlands will proceed smoothly.
