Coop Multiplayer and Crossplay in Towers of Aghasba (ToA) Explained
If you would like to take your friends for an adventure in the world of Towers of Aghasba, here you will learn about its coop multiplayer and crossplay features.
The Legend of Zelda is a series that inspired many developers throughout the years since the very beginning of its history in 1986. This franchise undeniably contributed greatly to how games look like today. One of the most recent examples that take an inspiration from those legendary Nintendo productions is Towers of Aghasba, which takes Zelda elements and fuses them with survival craft genre. Focusing on rebuilding the world, ToA is a title that would be ideal to share with friends and family. Does it feature a coop multiplayer then? What are the plans regarding crossplay? Let’s explore what the creators from Dreamlit studio have in mind regarding the social aspect of this title.
Coop, multiplayer and crossplay features in Towers of Aghasba (ToA) explained
The mysterious world of Towers of Aghasba is said to put a lot of attention to its lore that will be uncovered via exploration. The developers claim that in that regard, they want to make it more story-rich than Valheim (via ToA official discord server). Due to that reason, as they explain, it is challenging to create consistent and seamless coop multiplayer. Obviously the same goes for crossplay, which is just another step in the process.
With that said, when Early Access starts (on Steam and PS5), it will feature singleplayer and Animal Crossing style coop multiplayer, which means that it will be possible to visit other players’ worlds. You will be able to join up to 3 friends (4 people in total). However, story and quest progression will be available only via singleplayer mode.
The problem arises when you and your friends use different platforms. You won’t be able to meet each other in Towers of Aghasba… at least for some time, because according to production’s roadmap, such functionality is in development and will become available around Q2 2025.
Let’s hope that the creators will be able to successfully connect Zelda’s enticing world and mechanics from Breath of the Wild with happiness and freedom of adding your personal touch to such environments present in survival titles.
