It's been a while since there's been a relevant news about Hollow Knight Silksong. Everything shows that soon we will hear more about this game.

It would seem that times when big game studios were creating metroidvania titles are long gone. Yes, we still have the Metroid series developed by Nintendo (and maybe the recent Prince of Persia The Lost Crown), yet most of such productions are in hands of smaller, passionate developers. It seems that the biggest impression on community was left by Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight, though. As it was released in 2017, including 4, free DLCs, fans were stoked when they have heard about a sequel in the making. The wait for Hollow Knight Silksong is dragging, to say the least, leading the faithful community through all the stages of insanity. However, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel, as one of the best-known influencers on HK stage shared an interesting insight…

Hollow Knight Silksong on Nintendo Direct 2025?

At this point, every bit of information about Hollow Knight Silksong seems to be a joke but hear me out. Fireb0rn, well-known member of HK speedrunning community, has shared an interesting video (which you can find below) summing up mysterious changes that have happened on January 16, 2025 to one of Team Cherry’s members X accounts.

William Pellen altered his profile pic to a chocolate cake, which was noticed by user E1331 on Reddit. This sounds silly and unrelated to the game, yet another Reddit user, skibidiohiorizzlrr, reverse searched this tasty image to find out that it leads to Bon Appetit page with the recipe for Brooklyn Blackout Cake. The cake seems to be a lie, however the date when this recipe was posted seems interesting – April 2nd. On this very day, Nintendo Direct 2025 is scheduled to take place.

To further confirm this theory, later on William posted an enigmatic sentence – “something big is coming. Keep your eyes closed tomorrow”. This appears to be related to Imagine Dragons’ “Eyes closed” song which was teased on April 2nd in an Instagram post. Based on the content of the trailer, some fans speculate that more news will come tomorrow. It is unlikely, though, as this seems to be simply a part of the message. Again, the date is important.

That’s not where the oddities end. William’s X name was changed to “Little Bomey”, which is a winery in Adelaide, a city in Australia, where Team Cherry works. Googling for that wine was also returning results linking it to the month of April, though after that tweet, the search results were skewed.

All of this gives us real hope that has a chance to not be turned into pure copium. As Fireb0rn states, and I agree with, it would be in a very bad taste from TC’s side to joke about Silksong at this point. If that was the case, fans’ dissatisfaction would be on the rise. So, this time, there is a real chance that something is happening regarding this title. Let’s hope it’s not just another silkpost!
