Hollow Knight: Silksong Release Could Financially Ruin Reddit User
Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most anticipated video games. A Reddit user made a bold proposition that creates a potentially legendary opportunity.

A few hours ago, as of writing this, on the subreddit r/Silksong, a user made a risky proposition with the devs and the community. The title of the post reads: “if [Silksong] drops tomorrow, I will donate 1000 USD to every one in this post…” Now Team Cherry, the studio behind Hollow Knight and its highly anticipated sequel, could do the most brutal, but simultaneously hilarious, thing imaginable.
Hollow Knight: Silksong fan makes a huge gamble, offering thousands of dollars for the game to drop
Hollow Knight: Silksong has become one of the most anticipated games over the last few years. The sequel to the indie hit Hollow Knight was shown in a trailer all the way back in 2019, but other than the fact that developer Team Cherry is still working on the game, there have not been any major updates. The hype for this game has hit a fever pitch, with nearly every video game presentation’s live chat calling out for any news about Silksong.
Fans look for any hint of information, such as a recent conspiracy where someone changed their social media account to a picture of a cake, which led down a rabbit hole to suggest a potential release date for the game. This, unsurprisingly, turned out to be a coincidence, but it demonstrates the lengths fans are willing to go to learn anything about this game. A recent post from the developers confirming that the game does “exist” and “is being worked on” was finally given after fans, quite literally, begged for more information.
With this Reddit post, Team Cherry has an incredible opportunity roughly within the next 48 hours. This is not a great reason to actually release the game, but it would be a legendary move. With all the hype and expectations that have built up, to suddenly release the game as part of an over-the-top joke would likely go over well with the community. Releasing the game in any way will go over well with the community.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is widely expected to finally release in 2025. The developers announced in May of 2023 that they were delaying the game but had previously anticipated a release in the first half of 2023. They do add the caveat that the game has “gotten quite big” which could explain why it’s been so long since there’s been a meaningful update. But if the game was expected to be released almost two years ago, it would make sense for this year to be the time. With the major announcement last month of the Nintendo Switch 2, the timing would be perfect.
