18 Years After Release, Star Wars: Empire at War Update Boosts Classic RTS Performance by up to 50%
Petroglyph studio is not thinking of abandoning Star Wars: Empire At War. This RTS, which is eighteen years old, has just received a new update.
Star Wars: Empire At War, the RTS set in the Star Wars universe, will soon celebrate its 19th birthday, but it remains very popular. As a result, Petroglyph, the studio responsible for the project continues to support it and releases one update every year. This year's patch debuted last night.
- It improved the game's optimization. The devs claim that on large maps (available as part of the Forces of Corruption DLC ) we can expect a 50% increase in frame rate per second.
- The error has been fixed, as a result of which players were not asked to enter a password when trying to join a game in an online lobby secured with a password.
- The bug that caused the game to freeze when retreating from a ground battle after taking over a vehicle with Chewbacca has been removed.
- Improved gameplay balance.
Let's remind that the game is currently sold in digital distribution as Star Wars: Empire at War – Gold Pack, which is a set containing the base game and the Forces of Corruption expansion. The package can be purchased on Steam and GOG.com for around $20.
Continuous support from Petroglyph is great news, as Star Wars: Empire at War is still very popular. Yesterday's activity record on Steam was 1,772 concurrent players, and during the hottest weekend moments the game always easily exceeds 2,000 people simultaneously.
