This is where your adventure begins.

Start by going right until you get to a painted building with posters; you will see the possibility of interaction at the entrance. Go inside, and across the courtyard to the shop. You will find an elderly man sleeping there - wake him up with a bell (by default with the Spacebar). Then go upstairs - on the first floor, to the left of the stairs you will find a ladder on wheels, move it to the right until the red ends of the ladder come into contact.

Simply move the ladder in such a way that the two red ends of the ladder join together.

Go up, go left, jump over a pile of books (up and then down key) and take the book with the red cover, then go down to the ground floor and bring the book to the elder man.
