The following page of our Medievil game guide includes a walkthrough of The Lake level. Thanks to the Boat Man, Sir Daniel arrives at the Mellowmede lake. Either way, you have to solve the mystery of the lake to move on.

Walkthrough
Read the book, then carefully walk through the bridges, shooting Fish Monsters, until you reach the bridge with a lever. Do not pull it yet and go left. You will reach the place with Watchers and Guardians of Mellowmede. Kill everyone and collect the Earth Rune located on the bridge. Afterwards, enter the ruins and talk to the gargoyle - there is an exit located right next to the creature. Collect the Chaos Rune and return to the bridge with the lever. Turn the bridge so that you can go right, reaching the large vortex. Collect the Time Rune and a book. Now place all 3 runes in the special devices. Thanks to this, you will be able to plunge into the vortex and go through the water tunnel.
There is a Chalice in the ruins that you cannot collect at the moment, but you will soon return for it. Deal with the turtle-like creatures. You should now be able to collect the Chalice. Afterwards, collect the Star Rune, go through the small passage in the wooden fence and activate the lever. Now go through the newly opened gate and again to the left. Use the rune at the crystal gate and leave this level. If the bridge is blocking your way, use the enhanced jump (X+R1) to get over it.
