Means of unlocking the quest: determine doctor Garneau's whereabouts during your stay in Dr. Bryson's laboratory in the Citadel.

After you leave the Citadel, go to the Caleston Rift and go to the Aysur subsystem. The asteroid you are searching for is not visible on the map of the system using the scanner installed on Normandy and find Mahavid. You will find it in the meteorite belt that surrounds the entire area. Then go to the planetoid.

After you get there go straight ahead at and take the lift down to the lower level of the building. Prepare yourself for a fight with Reaper spawns - up ahead you will see a brute and two marauders. There is quite a long distance between you and them, so you should have no problems with exterminating them. After a moment yet another brute will turn the corner, but you will have no problems defeating him. If you've lost too much ammo during the combat, there is a small deposit of it in the right side part of the room right next to the balustrade.

Climb the stairs to the next level of the building. Collect ammo and the medkit in the corner [100 exp]. Next go to the passworded door (Shepard's omnikey should have no problem dealing with it) and watch the cutscene. People you are about to meet are trifle odd, but you do not need to worry about them-they will not harm you. Do not expect them, however, to help you-none of them has ever heard about Dr. Garneau, and the lift to the further part of the facility has been damaged. In practical terms this means that you may have a look around the area and find two datapads: to the right [1250 credits] and at the left hand side of the room [2500 credits].

After you reach the broken door at the end of the room, you'll be given a new mission: to repair the lift. To do so, approach the terminal of the repair drone that you will find to the left and some of the robot. When you see that pulsating sphere, direct it to the broken installation. Once the obstacle is removed you will be awarded [10 EXP], and a new area will open up.

Pass through the door and start the lift. After you reach the higher level, have a look around the corridor-to your the left will find an abandoned datapad [1250 credits]. Regardless of the door you choose, you will enter the mineral works. In the corner of the room leading up to the crew's quarters find a terminal that will give you [1250 credits]. On the table with flowers on it you will find yet another datapad [1250 credits].

Go right and past the security terminal. Open the passworded door and enter the room where there is a secret conference being held. On the rest of the rest of the couch will find another datapad [1250 credits]. Go through the door on the right and make yourself comfortable in a small watch room. Ignore the soldier standing there and have a look at the datapad [2500 credits] in the armchair. Thanks to the datapad you will learn the facility employee's ID and you'll get access to the crew's quarters. Go there and take ultralight materials II (pistol). The datapads that you find there will not contribute in any way to your quest, so you can ignore them.

Make your way back to the conference room and break the password to the locker. After you enter it turn your attention to the datapad [2500 credits] lying to the right. Thanks to the datapad you'll learn the password to the security terminal and you'll be rewarded with [10 EXP]. In the very same room you can find high velocity barrel II (SMG). After you loot the location for all the valuable items, leave.

Go to the security terminal. Use it and you will be given a pass to the medical station and [250 EXP]. Pass through the conference room once again and open the door to the hospital that has been locked thus far. Once inside, grab the medkit [100 exp] and have a look into the darkroom. At this moment you'll see a cutscene concluding in the escape of the possessed Dr Garneau [200 exp].

Start chasing the man. Open the locked door with a password and climb up the ladder. You will find yourself standing outside of the base. Get ready to put up a battle with several husks-keep them at a distance and use the team power. Next jump over a hole between levels and enter the pedestal. Collect the recoil system II (SMG) and jump over the barrier.

As you go further eliminate two husks and get ready for a tough combat with marauders and ravagers. There is a whole lot of them, so you should need to pass between covers and successively eliminate next enemies. When the second wave comes, expect even more enemies, and in the third one - two bloodthirsty banshees. Keep them at a distance and keep firing your guns at them. Avoid the their projectiles - they are poisonous, and therefore very dangerous. When you deal with them, go to the door at the end of the location. Kill the ravager and two husks. Then have a look around the room-apart from the ammo you can find there a medical kit [100 exp] and Cranial Trauma System II (pistol). When you try to open the start door, it will turn out that someone disconnected them from the energy supply. You will be given [400 EXP] and a new mission- to transport the repair drone to the damaged generators.

Do not move far away from the drone - when you are outside of the reach of its radiation, the mechanism will be permanently damaged and you will fail the mission. That is why you need to follow it, avoid the enemies and fire your gun and them at the same time. It isn't easy, because hordes of marauders, husks and ravagers renew s all the time. They will stop only after both of the damaged units are repaired. If you've waited for too long, you should expect a fight with a banshee-that's no jokes anymore. That is why you should attempt to complete this part of your mission as soon as possible [400 exp]. If the combat proves troublesome you can always use Reaper Blackstar, which you can find in the corner of the room-you can kill any enemy with just one round.

Make it back to the door that has been blocked so far and walk through it [200 exp]. Watch the cut scene in which you can learn the truth about Garneau and the facility you are in. Talk to the survivors and go back to Normandy. You are up for another investigation at Dr. Bryson's laboratory.
