Walkthrough - Dr. Bryson's Lab I ME3: Leviathan Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Quest giver: Adm. Hackett [Normandy SR-2: personal terminal]
Means of unlocking the quest: Receive an urgent message from Admiral Hackett on your personal terminal.
After you read the orders from Admiral Hackett, go to the Citadel. During docking, location selection screen will appear-Dr. Bryson is to be found in his Lab (see the screen below). It is an entirely separate location which you can reach only during docking (you cannot go there or from the Citadel itself). You will be accompanied in your journey by EDI, who will join you automatically.
After you arrive, talk to the scientist. Unfortunately during the dialogue you won't get to know anything useful, and the doctor himself will die shot by his assistant. That is when two sequences will appear, allowing you to choose between an amicable or hostile gaming style. The former allows you to overpower the assassin (Idealist path), whereas the latter will allow you to hear the enemy firmly (Renegade path). Regardless of how you choose to behave, this will not influence the course of action-you also won't acquire any additional reputation points. Your choice this is of no significance whatsoever.
Your task is to find anything to allow you to trace Leviathan - a mysterious creature discovered by Dr. Bryson. The search is neither long nor problematic-after the cutscene you'll see in front of you an audio journal that you should play now. After the recording ends, you will be granted [100 EXP] and you need to open the galaxy map that is located in the lab's main chamber. After using it you will you will be rewarded with [100 EXP] and you will be given a new mission - to find any clues that would help you determine Bryson's co-workers' whereabouts.
To the right of the map you can find Prothean Artifact hidden behind a huge pane of glass. Use it to apply the first of the search filters to the map, which will allow you to find the doctor's co-workers. This way you will be awarded [60 EXP]. In the corner of the room, between the doors, you should see a desk with two computers on it. Start them to apply another filter - this time marking blackout crimes. After that, you will be awarded another [60 EXP].
Move to another room. To your right hand side there is a doctor's daughter's drawing on the desktop (irrelevant) and two datapads. Use them to apply Raknii movement filter to the map. Thanks to that you will be awarded another [60 EXP].
Go to the right corner of the chamber to switch on the display and see the scheme of alien sightings. Use it to get another filter and [60 EXP].
Turn left and have a look at the meteorite and next to the optical instrument. This way you will be given another one of filters that you are after (concerning element zero) and [60 EXP] the last one of the traces is a bit problematic. Approach of the desk next to the remains of the Sovereign and use the two datapads that you find there. You'll need the special password for one of them. Climb the stairs to the doctor's bedroom and find there a drawing with the password on it. Then, go to the encrypted datapad. At this moment you will be awarded [60 EXP], and the last one of the filters that shows the Reapers' movements.
Equipped with all six clues, approach the map and apply individual search filters. Some of them do not give you any important information - they are just dead ends. To determine the exact whereabouts of your destination - i.e. Dr. Garneau, with whom Bryson worked - you need to turn on the following filters: the element zero, the Reapers, and the alien sightings. Only in this combination can they lead you to the right system, but you can also go out and find them on your own by flying into various parts of the galaxy. This, however, is a time-consuming and pointless process, and additionally, if you manage to narrow down the scope of your search to one area only, you will be rewarded with [280 EXP]. That is why pinpointing the exact system is definitely more profitable an option.
If you want to you may leave the Lab-to do this use the quick transport vehicle that is parked outdoors. Before you do, however, search around the place-you can find a number of useful items here.
Rewards for completing the quest:
