Foolhardy escape | The Magic Mirror King's Quest Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
As soon as the cutscene ends, you will be tossed into a chase. At the beginning, you need to run over the bridge. In the course of that, you need to watch out, because the dragon is not loafing about and is trying to smash it into smithereens. You need to steer clear of the dropping fragments of the plank.
Out of a sudden you drop down into the rushing river and start moving very fast, on a bridge fragment. Of course, the dragon does not give in and keeps chasing you.
During the sequence, you will have to shoot arrows at the ropes, suspending beds. There are, at least, several of them here. You really need to focus in this sequence.
The situation is similar in the case of directional keys popping up. You need to press them at the right moments to avoid collisions with rocks and the low ceiling.
As soon as you jump out of the water, you will have to escape along the familiar path, with sleeping beds over it. Unfortunately, they are not as cal as they used to be - as you run, you need to keep avoiding the dropping objects.
As soon as you reach the escarpment, you can walk over it safely, up to the door, that you remember from the beginning of this chapter. Before you can climb up the rope, back to the surface, though, the dragon jumps you again. You will now have to choose the spot to shoot an arrow at.
1. If you shoot the eye, he gives in, due to the damage he sustained.
2. If you shoot the bell, this will confuse the dragon and he gives up
3. If you shoot the spinning wheel, you release the dragon from the chain that keeps him in the cave. Being grateful for that, the dragon spares your life. As a matter of fact, this is the best course of action, thanks to which there appears an additional dialogue option, during the cutscene.
After you complete the first stage of this episode, you get to see a cheesy cutscene, where the protagonist ends telling his story to his granddaughter.
