King's Quest Description
King’s Quest is the title of the ninth official installment of the renowned adventure game series. It is certainly worth mentioning that the previous production of the saga has been released over seventeen years ago. The Odd Gentlemen is the studio responsible for the long-awaited sequel to the cycle; the founders of the brand – the Sierra company, will oversee and publish the project. The newest King’s Quest features, the once extremely popular, episodic structure.
This time the story is presented to us mostly in the form of flashbacks, as we step into the shoes of the elderly king Graham (voiced by Christopher Lloyd, who played the role of Emmett Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy), who is telling the stunning tales from the times of his youth to his granddaughter Gwendolyn, explaining her how he ascended to the throne of the Daventry Kingdom. King’s Quest consists out of five, individually released episodes, which together form a coherent storyline. In the first chapter Graham is still only a young adventurer, who dreams about being knighted and decides to join a tourney to prove his bravery and valor.
During his journey Graham meets many interesting characters, engages in various dialogs and solves numerous puzzles – the bread and butter of every adventure game; however, the production also has many platformer sequences, where our hero has to avoid traps and overcome different obstacles.
The ninth King’s Quest is the second installment of the series to have full 3D graphics, although the technological leap made since the prequel’s release is enormous. The hand-drawn backgrounds and objects are distinguished by the substantial amount of details, which also grant the game an interesting, cartoony art style; the entire title, not just the visuals, but also the dialogs and the storyline are filled with large doses of humor.
