A real-time strategy set during the World War II. The game was developed by the Canadian studio, Relic Entertainment, famous for the Homeworld series and Warhammer 40.000: Dawn of War. The game focuses on the American armies struggling against the enemy in Western Europe. It begins with the D-Day, the legendary allied landing in Normandy. The single-player campaign is very cinematic. When it comes to the multiplayer, it can support up to eight players. Each of them has to pick a side - either the Allies, or the Axis. The game stands out thanks to the Essence Engine and the popular Havok technology accompanying it. Thus the game world makes a great impression - the environments are destructible to a large degree and the team the player commands can boast great AI - its members take advantage of their surroundings and respond very quickly to enemy actions.

The second standalone expansion to the popular war RTS from Relic Entertainment, released in Poland under the name Kompania Braci. Along with the expansion we get three more campaigns set in key moments of World War II: Causeway, Battle of Falaise and Ace of Tigers. The most noteworthy campaign is the one in which we take control over a single German tank with its four-man crew and a group of infantry covering it. Each of the tankers has a slightly different role, and the gameplay is a bit like a hybrid of strategy and RPG.

This lead to it being ridiculed by others due to having a German father.

A 1992 cult shooter game, often called the “forefather” of 3D FPS games. Wolfenstein 3D was developed by the famous studio id Software, also known from such titles as Doom or Quake. You play as William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, an Allied special forces spy, who undertakes dangerous missions on enemy territory. Blazkowicz is sent to Nazi Germany to infiltrate Castle Hollehammer, a secret base where research on creating a super-soldier is conducted. The singleplayer campaign consists of six episodes, starting with getting out of the eponymous Castle Wolfenstein. In the enclosed locations of the game, you face various opponents, from guard dogs, through foot soldiers, to powerful mutants—at the end of every level, you have to fight a mighty boss enemy. The levels are labyrinth-like, and your primary task in each of them is to find the exit key and proceed to the next location.

A free-to-play MMO flight simulator. It was developed by Gajin Entertainment, a Russian studio which previously created such titles as Wings of Prey, Birds of Steel, and Apache: Air Assault. The players assume the role of fighter pilots and can pilot hundreds of carefully recreated World War II aircrafts. The developers made sure that battlefield reality is faithfully reflected not only in the air, but also on the land (artillery, infantry) and at sea (navy). Progress allows us to upgrade our planes, buy new kinds of weapons as well as learn new piloting skills. War Thunder stands out from its competitors thanks to its high-quality visuals and realistic flight physics.

Order of Battle: World War II is a classic turn-based strategy set during WWII, and a debut game by a studio from Luxemburg, called The Aristocrats. The game was initially supposed to be released as a standalone title called Order of Battle: Pacific, but around a year into the production it was decided that it should become a free-to-play game – on the same occasion, the title has been changed. The title combines old-school mechanics, based on games such as Panzer General, with modern 3D graphics. The gameplay is conducted in a turn-based system on typical hexagons. The game, along with its expansions, provides hundreds of units with unique specialties, realistic yet approachable support system and a plethora of legendary commanders providing different bonuses for their armies. In the base version of the game, there is one training camp, serving as a tutorial, and one scenario from each available DLC.

The production focuses on a realistic recreation of the famous offensive in the Ardennes, which took place at the turn of 1944 and 45 and was the last major operation of the German army on the Western Front of World War II. Battle of the Bulge lets you control both sides of the conflict, and during the game you take control over whole units of particular armies.

Frontline Commando: WW2 is freemium shooter and a sequel to Frontline Commando: D-Day. It was developed by Glu Mobile. Campaign in Frontline Commando: WW2 consists of 180 challenges and begins with the Battle for Ardennes. We will also visit Germany and take part in some of the operations from the Italian campaign. There are two primary types of missions: Main missions and those that focus on certain battle tactics. When doing the latter ones, we will take part in typical pistol and rifle gunfights, sniper duels, we will use bazookas to destroy enemy tanks. We will be also disabling enemy artillery and using flamethrowers to roast our opponents. Battle in Frontline Commando: WW2 comes down to hiding behind covers and shooting in the right moment. As we play, we will collect in-game money which can be spend on weapon upgrades.

We can play as either United Nations or Axis, with each faction having different units and equipment, not to mention missions and their objectives. Gameplay takes place on maps, covered in hexagon grids, based on historical battlefields, with turn-based battles resembling those from classics of the genre, e.g. the Panzer General series. 1944 Burning Bridges emphasizes tactical aspects and allows us to use various offensive tactics, including surprise attacks, surgical strikes at strategic points, seizing or destroying buildings and bridges, and setting blockades. Classic single player campaign is complemented by two multiplayer modes (online or in hotseat).

Pacific Fleet is a strategy game and a simple simulator developed by indie studio Killerfish Games. The game takes place on the Pacific Ocean, where US Navy faces Imperial Japanese Navy in a series of grand battles. There are seventeen types of ships and eight types of planes at our disposal. Combat is turn-based and has two phases: movement and attack. The key to success lies in choosing a proper tactic. While planning our strike, we have to take under consideration the randomness of the unit placement, the weather conditions, and the day-night cycle. Pacific Fleet features both single player campaign and "hot seats" multiplayer. The game stands out among other mobile games due to its high quality visuals.

In addition to the single player campaign, in which our task is to repel the invasion, the game also offers a cooperative multiplayer mode.

A sequel to a classic turn-based war strategy, Battle Academy, developed in 2010 by Slitherine and based on a simple online game promoted by BBC television. The second installment takes you to the Eastern Front of the World War II. The year is 1941, after the Nazi Germany launched the famous Operation Barbarossa, aimed at their former ally – the USSR. Battle Academy 2 offers four campaigns for a total of 30 missions. Apart from that, you can also play through individual scenarios or fight in the skirmish mode. In order to make the gameplay more diverse, maps are generated randomly. At its core the gameplay looks a bit like in the Panzer General series. The developers meticulously recreated over 130 authentic units and combat vehicles from the World War II period. Battle Academy 2 also introduces minor changes to mechanics, such as smoke, short sprinting for infantry units, aerial support, partial damage and tactical use of trenches.
