Desert Fox: The Battle of El Alamein is the third installment of the cycle of turn-based strategies Crisis in Command. The title is the responsibility of the American studio Shenandoah, which thanks to the previous parts of the cycle (Battle of the Bulge, Drive on Moscow) managed to gain the opinion of specialists in ambitious mobile strategies.

The action of the game takes us into the realities of World War II, namely to the African front, where we take part in the famous clash at El Alamein. Between July and November 1942, Axis armies and British troops fought two battles there, which had a decisive influence on the development of warfare in North Africa.

The authors allowed players to direct both sides of the conflict, both during an extensive fiction campaign and shorter, independent scripts. The game takes place in a turn-based system, and warfare is conducted on a macro scale, so in individual battles we manage entire units and brigades. Just like the previous versions of the series, Desert Fox is also based on realism and tactical depth. In the game there are new, specific to each side of the unit, and the key to victory turns out to be the right tactics. A novelty in the series are minefields, which we can place in strategic points of the map and the relief of the terrain, which we can use as a shield during the fight.

In terms of binding, the game represents a similar level and style as its two predecessors. Traditionally, the creators have made every effort to ensure that the fun mechanics is able to satisfy seasoned strategists, while at the same time not posing too great a challenge for beginner players. The game also features asynchronous multiplayer mode, typical of the cycle, which allows you to compete in local mode or over the Internet.
